I don’t understand. There is nothing about that play that was not offside. Nichushkin wasn’t even close to getting back to the blue line. Total crap.

TNT saying because the puck was tapped ahead by Makar? What the eff?

Exactly. So what if it was? The only way that's onside is if we carried the puck back in, which we clearly didn't.

Yeah, that doesn’t make it not offside. What a joke.

Doesn't matter .. puck came out.. Av was still in.. pauck put back in by an Av.. control of the puck has ZERO to do with anything.. This was a fabricated goal.

The explanation according to CBC was that Makar did not have full control of the puck when his teammate was behind the blue line.

That was THE most corrupt call in all of hockey I've ever seen. Flagrant obvious wrong call. But they did it out of spite anyways.

Well, if some BS like this was going to happen, it's better that it happened earlier in the game. Hopefully the team can use this to rally itself into a harder pushback in the following periods.

Check the odds on Avs to lead after one period. That was straight-up an organized crime call. Historically bad, and probably literally based off the breaking of laws.

I guess they consider it like a dump-in. As long as his teammate tags up before it's touched, its onside. Not sure that should apply in this case.

If you move the puck forward, stick stays with-in a foot, and you touch it again nanoseconds later... that's 100% control of the puck the whole time. That's just the NHL pulling a fast one cause they know they can.

IMHO when you push the puck ahead you ARE in control of it.

Learned a new rule tonight.
Thankfully we are accustomed to bad goals against and Kuemper does not seem sharp.
We are in it, but how about taking a man off the opening draw? Tie someone up.

Well, regardless of BS call or not, we really need to tighten up after we score. That's twice now we've let them score within seconds of us scoring.

I had never been more sure that a goal would be overturned, ever. Told my wife “never know with the way calls go against the Oilers. Hahaha”
The “explanations” on how they can allow that are such BS. In what world is that not offside?

That is so bogus, he was "stickhandling" across the blueline.. it does Not matter if the wasn't "touching" his stick as it crossed the line.. he had control of the puck the entire time between getting the puck, crossing the blueline, and taking the shot.. Absolutely offside.
The rules state a player has "POSSESSION" if he has "CONTROL" of the puck.. WHICH is what Makar had.. he didn't shoot it in.. he was stick handling and in control of the puck..
Score should be 2-2
NHL is a disgrace.

And as I type this, the Avs have scored again.

Look on the bright side- should the Oil go on to lose, we don't have to point at the offside goal as the reason.

Nurse is not the only one- this losing is a TEAM effort so far. Smith has just been hung out to dry by his entire team tonight.

None really but they are essentially killing a penalty whenever he's on the ice. He's obviously not fit to play.

The point is that no one player deserves the finger of blame in a game like this- they have ALL played poorly tonight.

Like a rodeo out there for the Avs. Pretty easy to defend when you can simply tackle the players with impunity.
Maybe once we go down by 5 they’ll give us a courtesy call so the end of game numbers balance out.

NHL offside rule uses the ambiguous term 'control of the puck', i guess when he stickhandles the puck to himself it's not considered control.
The PP goal was just the cherry on the poop sundae the NHL fed us.
