Personally, I don't think NUGE can drive a 2nd line any more... any win will have to overcome this mismatch.
No HOLLOWAY to add some speed and size?

...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

I am ok not making major changes this game. Game 1 was one game. I dont know the record but I feel like the Oilers were pretty good in bounce back games this year.
There are few guys I would be happy with never seeing in an Oiler jersey again but tossing a rookie in, in Cal, for a playoff BOA would be big risk.
Both short and long term that could backfire if things went poorly and Holloway (or Broberg/Nemo) were at all at fault. Some in this fan base love to burn a rookie for years while giving over the hill guys rope for years.

Very sound reasoning and you’ve pulled me into that same thinking.

That said. I’d be completely happy never seeing Archibald on the ice in an oilers jersey again

Think there is no choice here. We need a 2nd line and Drai can't play C. So give Nuge decent wingers and hope for the best.

I personally would try Drai and Nuge together and Kane/Pulju or Hyman with McDavid. May have to mix things up as the game goes on.

Keith isn't even playing D. He does this all the time. Running around way out of position as if bouch is supposed to cover for him. Worry what our young D will learn from this turd.

There is a good chance it wont matter at this point but I'll have to watch again later. I swore I saw )and the announcers mention, that Keith charged to the point.
That would hake Ritchie his man coming across, Bouchard left his man at the right hash to try and beat him to the leaky save by Smith.

Bouch definitely lost too.

I don't get what the dynamic of that pair is at all at this point. I would want Bouch to be the guy able to take some chances offensively and Keith is taking it easier leaning defensively. But instead Keith is just totally random all over the place and Bouch is constantly the one left alone in bad situations allowing his inexperience to shine.

Well at least we won a round.

Hopefully Keith retires and that recapture can hit the Hawks. There's at least one thing I can hope for, as I don't expect the goalie situation to be fixed unless somehow they let Skinner cook.

It misses the first second but it is definitely Keith's man. He lines up board side and for some reason goes to the point right behind his own winger.
That said, you are right. Bouchard also sucked. His winger charged into the pile of bodies at the face off dot, leaving Bouch with no one. He should have been aware and picked up the loose player.

In the end it seems like we are all correct, and the Oilers D just isn't very good at hockey...

In the end it seems like we are all correct, and the Oilers D just isn't very good at hockey...

I should have said "isn't very good at hockey in their own end"

Keith and bouch are a really bad pair. Keith seems to think bouch is yhe reliable vet that allows him to just run around playing the wing

That was Bouchard's man. Absolutely Useless effort.

Keith isn't even playing D. He does this all the time. Running around way out of position as if bouch is supposed to cover for him.

Good points.

Rebound control would have been nice as well.

How about trying for a millisecond to find the free puck? Seem to always put in extra effort in our end
