Now I want the Kings even more.

They were pathetic last year.

How about Vegas players being allowed to skate 1/4 of the ice and 2 hand lumberjacking Drai's wrist for just a 1 game suspension? :)

I'll take the kings being babies over Vegas systematically taking us apart in our end while Vegas resident George Parros cheers them on.

There was a sequence when Hawks could've gone up 5-3....one of their wingers deked past Talbot...but then literally pulled back the puck in front of the crease...no joke.

Lizzotte, Arvidsson, Doughty, Byfield, Fiala, Kempe, Danault, Moore....so tired of these guys...so much PTSD.

No TeenWolf Iafallo this year. That guy seemed to have our number for whatever reason.

Korpisalo also stood on his head the first 3 games last year and was probably the #1 reason the Kings got up 2-1 in the series. We had our own goalie struggles too of course, but that series started with some max frustration because of Korpse before we finally broke him down in game 4.

Kempe freaks me out.

Doughty is made out of lead. And is a threat to injure.

It is what it is. Oilers need to be able to beat either type of team if they are gonna make any noise anyway.

If the Oilers have to play Vegas, I prefer the 1st round instead of 2nd round.

1st and 3rd rounds were the possibilities. Nashville/Canucks are the other pacific matchup.

Vegas would have to get through Dallas and Colorado/Jets, if Kings survive today

Kurashev flips the puck over the glass with under two to go trying to go for a late empty netter. Ardvisson instantly scores on the ensuing PP. 4-4. Crazy turn.

McLellan busted Dadbot. Big Sieve Dave. Kopitar and Dough boy 1 year older. Kempe 14 goal drop and injury issues.

If we can't beat the Kings, just blow this team up and start over.

I do agree that goaltending should be less of a factor this year.

Perry is a year older too. But still an huge playoff performer I would think.

Oilers should win..

Despite the prowess of Drew Doughty, I still like the overall depth of the Oilers blueline & goaltending for this series at least. Oilers ain't too shabby with their 3rd/4th lines though the Kings overall forward depth has had additional years/time to gel cohesively as an overall unit.

Key is to survive the deceptive machine gun fire from guys such as Danault, Kempe, Byfield, Fiala, Arvidsson, and their bottom pairing weapons such as Trevor Moore, etc. Hope our D & goaltending will be up to that task....

Wow.

Ron Maclean knocked it out of the park narrating the 2024 Playoff opener on CBC. My wife must have been cutting onions in the kitchen during that. The timing for me (A few beers. April 20 (420) and all.)

Well produced and edited.

Love the 1st round the most!!!

Missed Georgiev has a 0.897 sav% this year. Avs not setting themselves up well this year for a run with a whole year of having to outscore their goalie suck. We know something about that.

That was not what I expected for the first Jets/ Ava's game, 7-6 was not even on my radar, but that was a great game to watch.

Hope Jets can calm down defensively. Allowing so much Helly lets in 6. Georgiev not gonna be bad every night and Avs might have won that one of Georgiev was only half bad instead of full.

Despite having mobile puck movers on the Avs blueline, they're quite small outside of Josh Manson and can be pushed around by bigger forwards...even worse if said big forwards have speed as well. We saw how susceptible they were against Dallas & Vegas in recent years as their cheap goaltending approach isn't helping matters.

Rick Bowness is an old school no BS guy so I see the Jets settling down & clamping up rest of the series.

Hockey draft has a Jets vs Oil WCF. Jets can go 7 in both series and score lots and get banged up before our series.

“Matthews played his best game in a Leaf’s uniform.”

Sometimes Friedman gets all caught in emotion and says really dumb things.

He got 3 points, but was virtually invisible the first half of the game. I am having doubts it was his best outing ever.

I like how they said it was Matthews' 70th goal of the season a dozen times.

I didn't even think to look before now because combining regular season and playoff scoring is dumb, and only would be hyped up by HNIC to selectively hype up someone like Matthews.

I just noticed though that McDavid scored 72 regular season+playoff goals last year. Obviously mentioned by 0 people in media.

Team has a huge talent deficiency....Barry Trotz masked that perfectly few years back but they fired him....

Is that true?

If so, I think I know when it happened..
He made a 180 degree split save on a guy in that game that I remember thinking after.. "well if he had a lower body injury before, he's healthy now!"

Guess he tweaked something, they'll be in tough now vs. Nashtown.

Hurt a month or so before playoffs, and they held him out as long as they could. Seems back too quickly.

So, I guess we can call this season a saw off on luck for Vancouver. Their 75% of regular season miracles partially cancelled out in the last month or so, plus Demko now.

Maybe I'm not considering how DeSmith could go Adin Hillasek for them :)

A solid regression night in Vancouver. Hope it continues!

3 Cups

I think we are seeing the West is the stronger conference.

Washington makes the playoffs with a -37 goal diff and unless a miracle happens, they will be lucky to win a game and look like a team that will be swept.

Islanders made the playoffs with a -17 goal diff and are down 3-0.

Tampa, people are saying the series is close but are probably getting swept. At best they might win 1.

There is no sweeps going to happen in the West I would guess. With most series easily going either way.
