If this is a preview of the playoffs, I feel much more optimistic about the Oil's chances to make a long run. This has to be Stu's best game all year and one in which he firmly and loudly states that HE is the starter going into April. Jack is basically the Koski of the team now, the overpaid backup.

First SO of the season was well timed. Very encouraging game. LA loves the volume shooting from all over. Stu with a heck of a game to stop all the good stuff.
Amazing game from Korpisalo too, but still beatable.

Campbell needs to have a Rocky movie montage of a summer. Would be ridiculous if he still played like this next year.

Avry does some cool stuff. He interviewed me (of all people) in the Moss Pitt last year. Sure my quotes were mildly out of context, but it was so loud I couldn't hear what I was thinking.

Pretty sure that's just Sportsnet cutting to misplays of the month as fast as possible.

Yeah, Kaner was definitely heavy on a lot of the Kings. This next tilt with them is going to be ridiculous.

I'm cautiously optimistic with this team. That's a game I didn't think they had in them, not in March. I see no reason why they shouldn't be looking at top spot in the conference now. I was pretty worried about March but they went 12-2-1 against some good competition. So what do I know. I'll never stop worrying about goals against but why not? Dare to dream.

We'll be in the race for top seed right up until the end. Too bad we have the fewest games left.

It's actually a pretty crazy race. Potential max points still available:
VGK 113
Min 111
Edm 109
LA 110
Dal 110
Col 110
Sea 106
The first round might be absolutely ridiculous.

Oiler Alert @OilerAlert
On the night when the #Oilers celebrate Evander Kane and Leon Draisaitl's 300 goals, Connor McDavid's 300th goal is the team's 300th goal of the season.
3 nights in a row an Oiler scores their #300 and the last one ends up being the teams #300. It's a sign!!! Of what, we may never know.

If we score no more this season, this is the 10th highest scoring season the Oilers have ever had.

It's a "legitimate" 300 too. You get credited for a GF for all your shootout wins, but the Oilers have 0 shootout wins this year, so they've really scored 300 goals.

If Skinner has a few more outings like that and gets up to 27-28 wins and close to top 10 in save %, does he have a chance at the Calder? Beniers’ 21 goals and 51 points are the best by a fair bit amongst skaters, but those are pretty mediocre numbers - certainly not slam dunk rookie of the year numbers. Could Skinner become the Oilers’ first ever Calder winner?

I predict he comes in 3rd or 4th. All the talk this year has been "The Oilers can score, but can't keep the puck put of the net", whereas Logan Thompson seems to have been more of a sweetheart to them. We are destined to never have a rookie of the year, and arguably should have 3 (Gretzky, Nuge, and McDavid). Plus, i think the voting happens before the season is over, so I dont think there is anything that can be done now.

Arnott should have won. They gave it to some other bum. Where did he end up?

Nurse getting praise for his effort. I was an advocate, and then apologist (injuries), then doubter, now rounding up into believer again. Dmen always have a down swing in their career before they start putting it back together, and I think he’s rounding that corner.
“Folks… Nurse played like a 9M dollar player tonight and honestly last 7 games”
Maybe he’s finally put it together mentally. Perfect timing too.
And what a performance by Skinner. That was a goalie taking the team on his back playoff performance. Hopefully he still has 16 of those lined up in the next few months.

Yeah - I think he's in tough, even in a weak rookie crop. Logan Thompson has better numbers - .915 to .911 and 2.65 to 2.88 GAA - and isn't on a team that is as well known for outscoring their problems. People will discount the wins (25-21 for Skinner) because of that. I think there's a pretty good chance he isn't even on the All-Rookie team.
Beniers (52 points) and Maccelli (43 points) will get some love too. Maybe Owen Power (30 points and +9 in Buffalo).
"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55
