Not a bad outcome for playing shorthanded for almost a period.

Campbell got a good workout.. played well.. the 1st goal he was on his own trying to freeze the puck.. could've had the Miller snipe.. but it was a snipe.. and the 3rd was back door on a PP.

Nice start for Connor.. 47 to go.. 81 games to do it in..

Well that was a shaky start but better when the Oikers got some PP time to get back in this one. Oilers really need to tighten zone coverage up and quit taking a crap ton of minors.

Campbell a bit sus on the 2nd GA....it was a good shot, but made some big saves. I just think this guy can be good if he's steady, stays healthy, and just keeps low key and drama free.

Petterson the Swede diving ace looking like someone farted in his face at the end of this one was worth the watch. Hopefully he has to settle in to getting used to losing to the Oilers. The Canucks were probably only in this due to some garbage play by the Oilers to be honest.

I had a good laugh when Louie was talking about how much stronger Petterson looked which was helping him stay up on his feet. Dude fell at least a dozen times before that comment and another dozen after. Then again, maybe he fell 50% more than that last year. I'd believe it.

Campbell was a rock after the slow start along with the rest of the gang. Been a while since we had a goalie with his style. Just trying to play a calm controlled game. Skinner is kinda like that too.

Been so long having erratic goalies with confidence all over the map. Would be nice if we had some more stability. Time will tell.

No matter what kind of garbage and weirdness is going on in the real world, it's likely an Oilers win will tip the scales the other way a bit.

Unfortunately that isn’t really hockey revenue and cannot be used directly for cap relief.

Brilliant idea.. all hotdog and beer sales goes towards increasing a teams cap limit.. what a way to increase league revenue overall.. choke down those dogs and guzzle that beer.. and we can go out and get that RH D-man we need to add ... team's fans can compete against each other for dog and beers sales.. and the resulting team cap increase.. brilliant!! 🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🌭🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺 puke

This is a weird feeling having confidence your goalie is gonna be there to keep you in the game. I kinda like it.

Sick body check too. Channeling Scott Stevens out there.

every time I see one of these stats and look up the line... Gretzky really was just incredible. I wish I were older and could have watched him more in his Edmonton days.

I wonder a little bit as well if McDavid is able to do it in few games than Crosby because he missed most of his rookie year. He was not scoring at as high of a pace that year, and 2016 was still a very low scoring year for the league compared to Crosby's first seasons in the NHL. In 2018 I feel like scoring started to rise from that point on, whereas Crosby had the opposite, scoring was trending down again at this point in hit career.

Likely would have been slower yeah. To balance Crosby got to start his career in the years of infinite powerplays and he got a crazy amount of PP points early in his career because of it. Took McDavid 5 seasons of getting tackled with refs looking the other way for him to get as many PP points as Crosby got in his first 2 seasons. More than half of Crosby's points his 2nd year were powerplay points. nuts.

That's funny, because the narrative around McDavid is that he only scores on the powerplay, but no one ever cared about that with Crosby. Though I don't think 5v5 numbers were as much of a focus back then.

Do the Oilers have a helmet ad on one side and the logo on the other? I know I saw a logo and I don't think there was an ad, but I didn't pay close attention to it.

In the preseason I feel like they only had them on the away helmets. Less ads on the players the better.

Yes I believe they are doing ads for road helmets.

Really happy they aren’t ruining their jersey with a Rogers ad in the corner or something, until the day that they do.

It's an image thing. Harder to sell a pristine jersey when you're seeing Gulf Oil on it?

They don't sell jerseys with ads on them.

Not yet!

What I mean is, the Oilers are a image driven organization. They live their brand. It doesn't make sense to sully their brand with markings on their jersey and helmet in front of their tier one customers. On the road, it matters less.

lol. Wonder how long we wait to see another late hit, that would have otherwise been perfectly clean, that resulted in almost no damage that gets a 5k fine.

HAHAHA. I defended the refs that it was a penalty, and still stand by that, but a fine is crazy.

Two obnoxious Canuck fans sat behind (is there another kind?) and wouldn’t shut up when it was 3-0. That comeback made my evening, ruined theirs and then took my enjoyment from a 10 to infinity level.

Vancouver fans pretty much all suck, and my family is full of them. We don’t deserve McDavid, but I’m so happy he’s ours.

When they were in their "Dynasty" years (c/w facetious tone) people here in Van that never followed hockey, started to get on the Canuck band wagon just to be "in" .. and they became the most obnoxious.
I didn't care one way or the other about the Canucks until then.. now I can't stand them.. between their obnoxious fans.. Bieksa, Burrows, Cook .. created a total dislike.. oh.. and John Garret .. he will drive you to hate the Canucks all by himself.. such a bitter old dwarf.

I had this exact same exprience at my first Oilers game in WPG. We were two guys in Oilers colors in a sea of Jets fans. Many were cool but a few were pricks.
