It will be interesting to see which 12 forwards are actually in the lineup when the season begins...

Was Chia forced to take a negotiation class after the Koskinen debacle?

Maybe MacT shared some things he learned at the eMBA School of Business.

Good work Oilers.

It shouldn't be too hard to sign guys who have no other offers for the lowest amount...

But yes, I'm happy we managed that. Now, we'll see if at season's end they don't both get four year, multi-million dollar pacts with no-moves...

Also, Koskinen looks like Billy Corgan:

This is the type of deals you do to fill out the fourth line wingers and pressbox. Nothing to complain about with this in isolation.

He's big, pretty fast, can kill penalties. just helped Washington win a cup and price is right. What's not to like about this signing?

I don't mind Chiasson as a depth guy. Has size, skates alright, experience, just won a cup, he can kill penalties and has produced some offense in a bottom 6 role. I would much rather have a guy like a Chiasson as a depth guy who come in and fill a role vs say Aberg who is nothing more than a skater who will give other players a breather.

You could have both Chiasson and Aberg (and half another player) for what they will be paying Cagguila to sit in the press box! With Kassian, Chiasson, Aberg, and a whole other player!

The Chiasson deal is exactly what you want at the bottom of your lineup.

I agree. Caggulia has been looking better, I hope it continues because they are paying him to be a cheap 3rd liner. The guy I most wonder about is Kassian. I like him but he's making 3rd liner money and he clearly is not. He needs to be a lot better this year. If there was any way to trade Kassian, even though I like him, I would do it. Put Chiasson in his place, you might lose some physical play but other than that, you get the same out of him and you trim 1.3 mill off the books. Chiasson is probably a better PK guy than Kassian.

Ya, that’s to be the best contract in the NHL.
Playing 1st line helps...

But makes me wonder, how many more stake dinners can they buy for him?
The team must be helping offset his empty pockets some how?

He worked his way to the top line, he was giving the Oilers badly needed secondary scoring early in the season.

Yeah there's got to be a website that calculates Points per Dollar, sure he'd be at the top!

Year after year, there is at least five guys like this hanging around as free agents. The Oilers, any team for that matter, should be stocking up on these guys. Most of these "surprise" players score at least ten goals a year and know their role.

Keep the youth on the farm. Develop.
