I'd be surprised if he was even out for the game. He grabbed his knee, then his shin, then settled on the ankle, where the slash actually hit.

Automatic suspension. They don't have a choice if a player lies on the ice and grabs his leg and/or arm it's a one game suspension unless it's rescinded (which it has been every other time in the history of the league). Everyone knows that.
