Well, %#@$ the Knights and what they represent (re: Bettman's ongoing obsession with the U.S. market to the point where it has become ridiculous, including his repeated attempts to keep Arizona as a viable franchise instead of just moving or folding them). It goes without saying I want the Oil to win, especially if the Knights are in fact pulling the same LTIR BS with Stone that the Lightning did with Kucherov.

Going into the playoffs, I feared the Kings more than the Knights.
I think the Knights top 2 centers aren't as good as the Kings, especially defensively.
I don't think the Knights are an overly fast team.
I feel like the Knights play a style that plays more into the Oilers style. The Knights like to forecheck hard and if you can get the puck out quickly, you can catch them.
The Kings played a very defensive style and they were looking to key on McDavid. I don't think the Knights will do that.
Their PP isn't near as good as the Kings. Kings had a top 5 PP, the Knights were 18th.
I think the Kings had the more proven goalie. Korposalo has more experience, started games in the playoffs and showed he could get hot before. Brossoit is 30, still a back up and the mot games he's ever played in the NHL in 1 season is 24. I think there is a reason.
It will be a hard series but I think match up wise if the Oilers play to their capabilities, this is an easier match up than the Kings in my opinion. I like the fact the Oilers didn't come home and seem to be all business. Game was over Saturday night. They could have easily jumped on their charter, flew back to LA. Sure it would have been late but it's not a long trip and the time change isn't huge. Have Sunday off to sleep in and hang with the family. Do a light practice/skate Monday. Full practice Tuesday, them make the short flight to Vegas sometime Tuesday. Play Wednesday. They didn't do that. They stayed in LA to work and stay focused.

What is going on with the NHL and this schedule???
Bizarre to me that they haven't figured out the first four games yet.
At least we have a game time for tomorrow now. 7:30 PM MT. No word on Friday's time, or even what days Games 3 and 4 are played.
As regards the series, I really hope the Oilers are taking it a lot more seriously than a lot of Oilers fans are. This team won the Western Conference this year and they batted Winnipeg aside with ease. They're no slouches.
Yes, their goaltending is suboptimal, but in case Oilers fans haven't noticed, so is ours. Our defence hasn't been airtight, and the team's taking way more penalties than its drawing.
Desharnais still worries me a lot, especially in opposition buildings. He struggled with the aging Kopitar and with Victor Arvidsson - Eichel and Stone are a whole lot better. The coach just keeps going back to that well, so we have to hope he plays significantly better because the Kings knew when he was on the ice and intentionally took attack to his side of the ice again and again.
I believe the Oilers can win this series, but it's likely to be a battle. I hope they come to the rink believing it's going to be a difficult one, because otherwise we're going to dig ourselves a hole early again.

Now they’re considering moving Game 2 to Saturday. The NHL is so Bush League.

I’d rather they take some time to consider what the best schedule would be rather than rushing out the first thing they think of. That being said there were only 16 second round possibilities so they could have generated some scenarios.

And they've had a few days now where most of the matchups have been set. For the Knights, they've been guaranteed to be the home team for the second round since last Thursday. They know what is going on in the rinks. It's a little odd that we're now 5 days later and they're still monkeying around with this. I'm sure some of it is the networks asking for games at certain times - but I think the NHL needs to set better boundaries then and get the requests in fast.
It's a pain. I have Game 3 tickets, and I can't actually block out that time in my calendar yet because we don't even know what day it'll be. Annoying.

Sounds like the Panthers owner wants to play on Sunday because he's got a horse in the Derby on Saturday? Sportsnet wants a Canadian team for HNIC... sigh

Sportsnet refunds all airfares and tickets of Oilers fans who have bought tickets for Friday, if they change the dates. Sorry, but changing dates this late isn't on. I understand sports are at the behest of TV firms and it's much the same anywhere, but the idea of changing this this late is a joke.

Actually, I don't mind this. Edm & Vegas as the ONLY Saturday night game ... even the Maple Leafs don't get their traditional HNIC Saturday for games 3 or 6!!

We matched up and played them so well in regular season. It should be a fun series. They are a very tough team.

I selfishly like the move. My goal this year was to watch playoffs in the pool, and this extra day might be what I need to get the pool running and heated up, lol.

The delay for game 2 might actually work out.. some injuries to hopefully heal up a bit better., Kane for sure, Janmark, Hyman, McDavid.. plus 97 and 29 get more time to recuperate after game 1.. therefore you can maybe use a little of the reserve tank in game 1 with less worry about game 2..

I'd argue the rest would help Mark Stone get back to 100% after his injury but he's been at 100% for probably 3 months already

If it’s his back he is one bend over to tie his shoes away from a set back. Stone’s health will always be an uncertainty.

Maybe not going to get to a 100%. I’m familiar with that walk. His lower back has either tightened right up or he’s crapped his pants.
I’ve done both.

Karma if he sat out too long and could have used an extra month to ease back into playing at a high level with his full ice time.

GOLD!
Yeah I saw that clip on HNIC.. Oilers have to help him put it through a stress test tomorrow.
He had surgery for it so the herniation(s) should be gone.. might be something more complicated now.

This has got to be the Knights last chance to win. $89.5 million in cap next year with 9 roster players becoming free agents. Going to have to give away millions in contracts just to be compliant (or put $15 million on LTIR again).

I think forwards is advantage Oilers. Our top forwards are demonstrably more productive than a group of Eichel, Stephenson, Marchessault, and gimp Stone.
Vegas has quite a defense. Pietrangelo is probably the best D from both teams. Bouchard and Theodore could be comparable. They have a solid 6 whereas we have a weak point in Desharnais.
We will need Skinner to outdo Brossoit/Hill/Quick. Seems like this could be the difference. I hope goalie coach Schwartz remembers the weak points in Brossoit’s game.
Cassidy will be a much tougher match than McLellan. Woodcroft has taken down McLellan and Sutter, two predictable and unadaptable coaches. I expect Vegas to have some much more pragmatic plans for us. Woodcroft will need to be sharp. I hope we go back to splitting Draisaitl and McDavid. I don’t think the last half of the LA series was our best half, despite the results.

Yeah, don't have to be too mean. Just some routine cross checks in the lower back, followed by congratulating him on his perfectly timed recovery.

I'm being superstitious and not doing the poll, but I think we can handle these guys. Hopefully we start with a bang tonight and don't continue our trend of digging the early hole for ourselves.
