Soo, am I being a “chicken little” if I say that this series is likely over tonight?

I really want to say that I think the Oilers will win tonight (and lose the series in 5) but it's just tough to see even that much happening after last night's game.

Also, why in the world are they scheduling back to back playoff games? I remember this happening a few years ago in a NYI-FLA series and I thought it was dumb then too. Probably happened last year as well, though last year was different for obvious reasons (still not making the concept less stupid).

Ugh, this again?

Hope we can at least win one. Loss tonight and maybe the Lames have to give us that nutz trophy.

Do we make a joke about no empty net goals or a season ending suspension?

stemhovlichski's suggestion that the Jets should appeal to to allow Archie to play tonight was pretty good :)

Psh, they’ll get enough help from Bear playing tonight. They can take full advantage of getting the last change to ensure that he is on the ice with their best forwards.

Easy now. I know Russell is out who is my designated whipping boy but I was under the impression that RNH is the new trendy player to blame.
Arent we only allowed to rip on players who are signed to long term big (for their worth) money deals or players who are on the way out of town?

I am not as upset, let down, whatever negative feeling as most. As one of the people accused as being negative and part of the "sky is falling" crowd I saw this coming a mile away. Not a sweep necessarily, I even allowed myself to believe they could get past the first round.

Occasionally optimism will creep in but until this franchise proves me wrong I will continue to be skeptical.

Anyone looking at this team with an unbiased view can see the many holes in the roster. Even with Smith finding the fountain of youth they are still woefully unequipped to deal with any sort of adversity or a matchup that mitigates the strengths they do posses.

I will be watching tonight's game like I watch most. On my couch, bourbon at the ready. Happy if they win, oddly unaffected if they lose. I have enjoyed most games this way for years. Especially since McDavid came aboard. My happiness is not tied to a win.

Maybe next season I will drink the koolaid and join the pom pom brigade. Maybe that is super fun.

I hear that bleach can wipe memories away too. Barring that, a good tall glass of rubbing alcohol should do the trick.

You don't watch this team over the past decade and a half without developing mental coping mechanisms. It's just not healthy to care too much about this team when it's failed so often and badly. Look at poor Oscargasm for an example of the impact that too much emotional investment can do to one's brain.

The MustTM scale shot off to Jupiter from the pressure it endured, ultimately cracking at the base prior to takeoff.

Maybe the same will happen to the mighty Oily boys tonight and we’ll be right back here again Wednesday.

I honestly expect a poor start. Yes, their backs are against the wall but they gave no visual signs of anything but shock in their pregamers today.

Incidentally, did anyone in here win the dinner with Bob Nicholson, Ken Holland and Kevin Lowe on the 50/50?

It’s dinner with the Oilers Analytics department, I’m sure head of analytics, Hunter, will be there as well.

I think I'd spend most of dinner complaining about Tampa doing everything possible to put themselves in a position to win. "Why couldn't they just play fair and accept their fate like us?"

Cue the greatest comeback in Oil history!

Yup. Belief starts small, but a win tonight is a pretty good start.

Incidentally, did anyone in here win the dinner with Bob Nicholson, Ken Holland and Kevin Lowe on the 50/50?

If so, I think it’s only fair you take 7 of us with you.....

Why would any of us want to attend a dinner with someone who isn’t at all part of hockey operations?

It’s dinner with the Oilers Analytics department, I’m sure head of analytics, Hunter, will be there as well.

I think I'd spend most of dinner complaining about Tampa doing everything possible to put themselves in a position to win. "Why couldn't they just play fair and accept their fate like us?"

They’ll enjoy that question. They’ll probably give such an in depth, logical answer as to why they didn’t, couldn’t, wouldn’t think outside the box but within the lines for this current edition of the Oilers.

Sounds good to me. So we’ve got whoever won it, Pi and I... who else?? 5 more!

I'll take one!

Probably will sell it instead of actually going, but oh well :)

For any sunny in philly fans it will be like Charlie in the gas episode.

We should likely invite RDOF. With the majority posing tough, smart questions and me going rogue we will need a good cop. Someone to lob easy questions and agree with everything they say
