They lost 6-2 their previous game against Tampa Bay. The Oilers need to match that hunger.
2-0 Kings right now. Come on, Oilers!

It’s ok guys. Chia is on it.
He knows a thing or two about building, if there was ever concern.
In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

Manning has been walked badly already.
Now looked like a feeb on the second King goal.

I like how Todd, and probably Hitch too, hate any low pairing D that can actually move the puck but make the odd mistake. But we will pay out the nose for big strong canadian lugs that get walked constantly and can't move the puck to save their lives.

Can't blame that one on anybody but Koskinen. D defended the pass, all Koski had to do was stop a clean shot. You can only blame the defence so much.

5m to go in the first and the Kings have more goals than we have shots. Cool.

Pulju should have covered Jones on the pinch, he was late ..
1st goal was on Jones, all he had to do was squeeze off the forward along the boards, he let him go almost clean through.
This is a crap effort.
Reider, Lucic, Spooner, non entities as forwards.

I wouldn't blame Koskinen on that third goal either, whoever was paired with Petrovic (Manning ? ) pinched right to the corner ( idiot ) and gave them a fast 2 on 1. Perfect hard shot by Carter just inside the post. Not sure any goalie could have stopped that.

I went back and looked.
Yes indeed that was a completely useless pinch by Manning causing the entire problem.

Yeah, Carter roofing it far side from 10 ft out is not a weak goal.
Novel idea to not get scored on. Don't let players like carter carry pucks down for 2 on 1's.

It was all on the goalie.
Any decent goalie should save a clean shot like that.
No only did it give up a goal to secure a huge lead, it sent a message to all of the Oilers that any tiny mistake you make might end up in the back of the net. Now they all take less chances, and the offence suffers. It was a killer goal on more than one level.
I like Koskinen, I think he should start a majority of the games, but that goal just can't happen.

A goalie cannot cover the entire net. When you get to shoot that close in to a goalie, if you put it in a place the goalie is not covering, chances are it's gonna go in. Your brain can't send the signal to your arm and you move your arm fast enough to move much based on where the shot is going from that distance. Goaltending is primarily about positioning and playing the odds. Any goalie can be beat from the distance with a good shot.
Don't do stuff that can lets elite snipers get 2 on 1's. This is a lesson Manning will probably never learn, even after his next season with us at 2.25M.

Oilers lacking secondary shooting tonight, never mind secondary scoring.
Second period shots: McDavid: 1, Oilers defence: 6, Oilers forwards: 0

Chia and whoever else has had input have done a lot of dumb crap in the last few years, but volunteering to take on Manning's contract for this year and next year too at 2.25 should be fire-able alone. Just complete idiocy. Gryba, the guy we bought out instead of burying to save his cap hit, is probably better than Manning.

If only the Oilers had a big tough guy on the team who was useless at anything else but could lay a whoopin' on an opponent who screwed with the franchise. Maybe we should should trade for someone like that!

Only at the expense of any secondary offence we have left.
Let me see. I guess it’s Chaisson.

Nurse just got tackled as he tried to take the puck up the ice. Why do the refs/league allow the LA area teams do this without being penalized?

This is one game where I think the refs have missed more calls on Oilers infractions than against the Oilers.
Nurse himself has bearhugged, tackled or otherwise held a King at least 4 times through 40 mins, perhaps letting that one go was payback for what Nurse has gotten away with.
If the refs were calling all of the interference and holding tonight the Oilers would have had roughly a dozen penalties.

Checking back on this one and almost half way through the third we don’t even have 15 shots yet after being down 3 early?
Was suckered back in after seeing on twitter that Bob Stauffer apparently called out Lucic for his laziness against his ‘summer friends’.
