My love/hate feelings toward Smith reminds me of an old girlfriend I once had.
Today it’s all love. We would be getting take out and doing it twice tonight.

Drai is a cyborg. How did he have the energy to make that play at the end, lol.

Good for Archibald. He had a heck of game before that OT winner. Him and Yamomoto are quickly becoming my favorite non-obvious (McDrai) players on the team.
Smith looked off balance many times but made saves when it counted. None of the Canes goals were really bad ones or anything. A couple of huge saves in OT.
Drai making his case for MVP while McDavid is out. I think that is 9 points in the last 4 games. His recent chip on the shoulder attitude has been a nice addition.

I was still cursing out the lack of a call there when Drai was hauled down/tripped/whatever when he was flying up ice. Great finish by Archibald on both his goals.

After going a goal down on the first shot (where have we heard that before), we really did rally and play a good game, yes a couple of lapses gave them the goals, but that was a real team performance. I didn't feel we deserved to be level at the end of the game. However in OT they were flying and if it wasn't for Smith keeping us in it, we'd have come away with only one point.
We can't say we stole the win, as we deserved it, but we stole the OT for sure.

11 games over .500, finally broke through the 10 games over barrier that we've bumped into multiple times this year. Never figured we would do it with McDavid out.

Total team effort but Drai continues to end up number one star at the end of games. Amazing player, how lucky are we to have him on our team. Smith was really good and Yamamoto is looking like a seasoned pro. This team is learning how to win the tough games they would have lost in the past. Nice pass by Benson on that Archibald goal, there's a player there for sure. How that call on Drai in overtime wasn't made is a mind blower, should be brought up to whoever is in charge of reffing. Great win on a back to back.

Like all of you, I flipped out during that OT blatant trip. What is wrong with the reffing in this League?! I almost smashed the laptop I was watching it on!

Tippets emotions on the bench were through the roof after Archibald scored.
I’m certain he would have been even more emotional if Aho had scored after that blatant infraction on Draisaitl.
I’m happy we will never know..

Apparently you can do whatever you want to Benning. Just swings his stick right into his jaw. Ref doesn’t give 2 craps as he is right there watching.

In the 3rd and OT we seen:
Punch to Haas head in front of both refs.
Slash to Benning’s jaw in front of both refs.
Khaira get crosschecked multiple times in front of Reimer with no call and then they call Khaira for a trip a second later.
Drai tripped in front of both refs in OT resulting in a breakaway for the Canes.

Goaltending needed for this stretch without Connor, and they're getting it. I'm fricking impressed by back to back wins here.
Reffing went both ways in OT, Nuge probably could have got a hook, nut yeah the trip on LD was blatant.
Drai making his case for the Hart, I dont know how anyone else could be the frontrunner. He makes his errors, sure, and they're often big when he does, but the good outweighs to say the least. He's going to get the odd wart out of his game, and be even better. I'm sure I'll still be a critic, but I'm a fan.

I would've been happy with just a point in a building where:
1) Oilers have suffered some really goofy bounces no matter how good or bad the Canes teams were in previous years
2) Oilers just had to play their 2nd game of a back to back
3) No Connor, Kass, or Neal
4) Refs blatantly miss a call on that OT Draisaitl trip.....
But alas...they came out on top....
If anything, I remember being seriously more concerned about the Oilers secondary lines blowing glorious scoring opportunities in the 2nd period of that Panthers game.....but to acquire 4 out of 6 points in this building is just absolutely glorious....

Credit to Tippett and his coaching staff. It seems to me that Tippett has got to know his team very, very well and developed an excellent relationship with them.
Also, Woodcroft and his staff down in Bakersfield have done a great job getting guys like Yamamoto, Jones, Benson and others ready for prime time. I thought Woodcroft did such a lousy job when he was the Oilers Assistant Coach in charge of special teams that he should have been completely bounced out of the organization. I guess some coaches just have to find their right place in the hierarchy. Woodcroft doesn't have the horses left down in Bakersfield to get the Condors into the AHL playoffs, but that's okay. He's doing a fantastic job of overripening the prospects, and Bouchard is coming along nicely.
Draisaitl has a 13 point lead in the scoring race. His +/- isn't so great, but I'm sure those in here who are wise in advanced stats can dig up some very positive numbers.
McDavid could be back in the lineup later this week (Before that Kassian guy maybe?). As much as McDavid is the heart and soul of the Oilers, I hope they don't rush him back into the lineup until he is 100%.
I think the goaltenders should go back to the two games off, two games on and split the back-to-back games, Koskinan is rested and healthy and Smith is on top of his game.

What an awful visual...
Great road trip though.
Would have liked to see a little more push in the third, but the team may have been exhausted.

Pretty sure my point with Benson was that I don't see him as a top-6er in the NHL, although who knows - I would love to be wrong about that. He's closer to it than a lot of others we've tried there...I'll give him that. He's no Lennart Petrell!

I don't know but I still contend that Benson was the steal of his draft. If he can work on his foot speed he is a top 6, but so far he doesn't look too far out of place most times.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.

Yeah, if I had that draft to do over, I'm leaving Benson behind and picking the NHL-ready guy who's got a demonstrated chemistry with Connor McDavid. It's early, but it looks like the Blackhawks have a pretty good chance at having won that round. The current tally on NHL points is 165-1...although to be fair, there were 6 more players picked between Benson and DeBrincat...the most productive of whom (so far) is Jordan Kyrou with 3-5-8...so we could have done worse.
