So in bizarre out-of-town NHL news this week, Michael Buble was doing an interview and talking hockey and dropped this wonderful nugget:

Quote:

“I haven’t said his name before, but I’m just going to say: Frank Seravalli.

Frank is probably a really good guy. I don’t know Frank well, but if Frank Servalli is a Canucks insider, then the 40-year-old virgin was a porn star.”

Frank Seravalli - never one to leave well enough alone - came firing back earlier today:

Quote:

“I found it very odd. I guess in the end I would expect nothing less of someone who has named one of his children after perhaps the NHL’s most overpaid player. He has one of his kids that’s partially named after Elias Pettersson, pretty odd.

“Don’t get caught up in the misdirection. What are Canucks fans talking about today? It’s that, and not the fact that their team has been a dumpster fire. Classic misdirection.”

Which is weird as a reporter to crap all over a team and a star player because you're mad that a celebrity suggested you're not an insider...and I'd suggest that this is not a tack that will increase your inside knowledge from anyone related to the Canucks.

And on top of being overall douchey in involving unrelated players and a pop star's child, it turns out that Elias Buble was born before the Canucks even drafted Elias Pettersson. Oops.

Here's Buble's last response from his Instagram posts:

Quote:

“Frank is right. I was a fan of Petey before he got drafted. Used to watch him play while he was in Sweden. My grandpa and I loved his game. Was thrilled when Canucks drafted him.”

“I gotta give Frank his due. It’s the first time he’s been right about anything Canucks.”

Weird flex I guess. I think Frank may like to get into the weeds once or twice. I couldn't imagine Friedman firing back a response.

The easy out, was always eh, so what? Frank didn't choose that, and went into the sandbox, Shame really.

The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.

Generally Disappointed.

Maybe he'll learn since the internet didn't respond well to his response, and then he just got run over again by Buble - who just comes off looking like a passionate - and funny - fan.

Seravalli might be on Spector's level of crappy. Between this and the terrible Gaudreau thing last year, he's pretty unlikeable. And I just can't see him actually having much for connections with teams. Why would you share much with him of all people?

And like Spector, time as the PHWA President...I guess there's not a lot of pre-requisites for that role...

I don't mind Servalli, but he definitely does not come across as professional as Friedman.

Was how Frank was OK to bash a star player out of nowhere a tell that he does actually just make up most of his stuff? :) Seems someone that actually relies on relationships with players/orgs would be instinctively far more careful about what they say.
