That was a complete game again, boys. Oilers play like this we are nearly unstoppable. What a win!!! Just one more to end this series !!!
Oh and give credit where it's due. Skinner was very good tonight. Let's hope this is the spark he needs to keep playing like this.

There is one of those Stu shutting everyone up games that he usually pulls out after Pickard wins a game :). Hope it lasts!
Great game the first 2 periods. The kind of play that leaves little doubt who the better team is. And lots of time for Stu to get comfortable in the game to shut the door in the third
Hope we can close it out in game 5 with another game like that!

I don’t think I’ve seen this team up 3-1 in a series since 2006 vs Anaheim.
Great game. Won a game without 97/29 scoring. The secondary scoring continues to be pivitol.
Can’t get complacent now. 3-1 but only one more chance at home. Keep her going!!

Skinner looked completely different tonight. Locked in not panicking and flopping all over the place. I'm happy to have been wrong about him this game - hopefully he can keep it going because it sounds like he is going to have to get them through this series.

THRILLED to be eating heaps of crow. Pass the ketchup. Skinner was great. Some really good saves. Most importantly, didn’t at all seem scrambly. Genuinely happy for him. Do it again in game 5
Kapanen and Stetcher looked good as well. Leon is definitely injured. Still a net positive, but nowhere near his best.
We need to figure out the PP. and stop the prevent crap. Keep pushing.

Those Skinner game 4 stats are kind of nuts. MacT would definitely always play Skinner in game 4’s no matter how any other goalie in the org was performing.

Both roster additions tonight made a big difference..
Stetcher is super quick and decisive with the puck.. Mobile, and quick with moving play out of his own end.. plus has the smarts to process it all at full speed.. and adds physicality.
Kapanen was great.. all his positive attributes paid off.. fast.. physical (pounded a few guys) .. and kept the puck in front of him.. Arvidsson couldn't have done any of it.. too slow and small.. .. Arvy just lost his spot.
Podz played great.. blocking shots.. bringing some heavy hockey.
And then there is Kane.. welcome to Swagger-ville! He was all over Vegas..

After the chaos of the first, sanity and calmness broke out in the second and third. It was if they set out in that first period to try and get in our faces and draw us into a slug fest coughing up powerplays constantly. We may have lost that period 3-1 in penalties, but that was on the ref's not the players.
That last powerplay they had in the first, was huge. Stu held firm and after that they looked deflated almost resigned to the result. Stu fought his way to that win, far from perfect, but it was a win and a shut out. Proof to himself, his team mates and us the fans that he can still win games, can still win big important games. Confidence booster, all that was missing was Vinnie waiting for him at the gate at the end of the game.
Vegas and the Vegas fans are going to go after Stu in the first period on Wednesday or whoever is in goal. We've got to keep them away and make it easy on whomever is in goal for at least the first 20.

Stecher a minute short of matching all the 5v5 ice time Emberson played in the first 3 games. Imagine that having stable D pairs helped a lot tonight.

I forgot how impactful he could be. When he does play in the regular season, he too often a non factor. But playoff Kane? He moves the needle.

I bash Bouch all the time.. but I have to say he had a very solid game.. won a lot of pucks and didn't find himself out of position.. and actually greased out a few guys on the boards.. which is refreshing (! !) .. I think the intensity of the playoffs is rubbing off on a lot of players.. good to see!

Ha! too true.. Kane did pretty well though .. it was him against 4 Vegas losers and he came out unscathed.. that was a smart exchange on his part.. whacked the hornets nest with a golf club.. and didn't get a sting..
The penalty he got for "Charging" was complete BS.. even the neutral observers on the HNIC panel thought didn't understand how Kane came out with a penalty.. completely cross checked from behind into Hill .. notably Bieksa and even Friedman.. Bieksa even said why didn't Hill get a penalty for all the slashes he had on the Oilers like Hyman several times.. he was slashing with impunity.

Pickard will be out a while, and Skinner will be good for 4 or so games before he turns into a tire fire again (based on what seen in past).
We're merely along for the ride of what to do for now with Pickard on the shelf, but hopefully Knobs knows how to read his goalies now once we have two options again.

Something that shouldn't be underestimated is the score itself. Blasting Hill and Vegas like we did the Panthers in Game 4 last year, would have added more fuel to the fire on Wednesday. 3-0 kept it perfect to think they had a chance, but also we were in control and not showing them up.
If we can light the lamp a lot on Wednesday that's fine, they'll have a whole summer to forget about it.
