Just crap. Completely different team after the all star break. Disappointing

Yeah, I didn't expect this start vs Calgary on a Saturday HNIC game. This team better figure out that every team in this league have players that can play.
...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Didn’t get to watch this one, but this is 6 sub .900 games for Skinner. Over 4.5GAA.
This is starting to look like last year’s playoff Skinner.

He has not been good recently but in this particular game the Flames were getting wide open looks all night. Skinner had made some key stops on breakaways and open shots in tight but those kind of chances kept coming.
Team defense was the culprit last night.
That said, yes goaltending is still a potential weak point for this team and it would be silly to change plans based on a 16 game heater instead of 2 years of looking at Campbell/Pickard/Skinner.
Clean house or bust

Much like the start of the year though, with goaltending it comes down to occasionally making a hard save. Skinner is looking like he was in October, where he's not coming up with any big saves. It's a significant problem.

He stopped the breakaway and multiple attempts from the slot or free drives to the net. Defence was porous.

McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!
Tic-Tac-Tao!
Keep on Rockin' in the Free World
P. Chiarelli math.. T. Hall = A. Larsson, Yak= bag o'pucks (OK he got one right...) K. Russell = $4.1 M+NMC, G. Reinhart= M. Barzal + A. Beauvillier, J. Eberle = R. Spooner,

Next game is LA, given Oiler's play from last 3 games I expect another loss.
Team has a lack of jam.. McDavid brings it every single game.. most of the rest are followers.. who sometimes don't even do that.
Starting to think lack of speed and quickness (throughout the line-up) is turning into a major handicap.
Plus Oilers seem to be defaulting back to their cringe defensive habits of October..

I am wondering maybe if the sickness that took out Holloway then Nuge had a bunch of the guys feeling under the weather on top of it being the second game of a back to back because from the puck drop, they didn't have anywhere near the jump the Flames did.
Either way, very few players had a good night.

Thought I agree Skinner made some really good saves , he will let in stinkers too. It’s frustrating. That game wasn’t on him, but he also didn’t help and seems to have lost his mojo from before thr all star break

I had a bad feeling early on when McD literally stopped skating on the Kadri goal. He's the fastest player in the NHL, it's freaking Kadri who's not exactly a burner. If he didn't feel the need/couldn't catch him, I was concerned there would be problems that night.
