4th line still playing hot potato hockey. Can't hold the puck for more than 1 millisecond, just hack it towards wherever you think a teammate might be. They all think they are masters of the drop pass too.

Do other teams attempt the drop pass as the Oilers do? I never seem to notice teams we play doing it half as much.

Drai and Nuge have had some opportunities early, MAF looks like he’s got a battle level matches only by Mike Smith.

How good would this team be with a quality goaltender such as Fleury? Keeps Vegas in that period and then Koskinen let’s in a beauty 😖

It would be so Oilers for the team to play as well as they have only to be sunk by a crappy night in net by Koski. It was certainly a better first period than the stinker they put up last night in Anaheim.

Patches scores that goal all the time. No goalie can cover 100% of the net. One of the best shooters in the league.
Sucks, cause we've had a million chances, especially Drai, but he has a hole in his stick so far tonight. I hope Drai doesn't get all his sticks from China and he's using someone elses now :)

Shooting too. We've had looks at multiple open nets, but guys are swinging at air.

I’d argue Smith has supplied quality goaltending of late, when this team had a decent record with 97 out.

Smith seems to either play super good, or he completely gives games away. Rarely any middle ground.
Koskinen seems to be more of a consistently below average goalie. If you play great in front of him, I think you are likely to win. If you play bad, he's not gonna save you and you almost certainly will lose.
While Smith, you can have a godly effort from everyone and he'll still find a way to give it away. But he can also go nuts and make up for a trash effort.
At the least it makes for a wild ride all year long :)

I also think Smith, for whatever reason, has got a little more run support this year. We've won a bunch of games where he's allowed 3-4 goals. He finished .880 but gets the W.
That still was a pretty stoppable shot that Koskinen flubbed.

Saw a better angle. Yeah, it was the classic Koskinen glove drop as the shot is released :( I think it goes just above his forearm as he does his patented glove drop. If he just kept his arm steady, it probably hits it.
I take it back...bummer goal.

Giving up a lot now. Yikes. 4th line is still hell out there. Just refuse to play a simple game. And constantly lost in our zone.

Great example there, when they can't even just clear the damn puck out of their own zone without coughing it up. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Sheahan cannot be a member of this team next year if they are serious about being a contender, period.

Making up for that goal in the first half of the second period. Knights are all over the Oilers and Koski has made a couple really nice saves.

I don’t have a lot of hope there. Week to week means that best case scenario we are probably looking at a month out at least for Yamamoto.
Koskinen looking better here...unfortunately the team is looking worse here.
We are LOVING the flip it out of our own zone this week. We just keep doing it including lots of times where there isn’t much pressure...

Kinda do still. They all seem to think they're secret McDavid's. They just refuse to try to play simple shifts and try to hold pucks in the offensive end. Nope, too good for that. Need to dangle every shift, make sweet drop passes and throw pucks away trying to pass through opposition sticks.

Not sure why everyone is dumping on Koskinen? That goal against wasn’t great, but it wasn’t horrible. He’s been otherwise lights out and his glove hand hasn’t been horrible this year.
Tonight’s issue is that we can’t get any speed in the neutral zone. Stood up at the blue line. Poor defensive zone play.
That all being said, we are one goal down going into the third. We have had lots of near misses and our PP has been close to cashing in. Quick extra man goal to start the third and the boys are getting in one tonight.

He definitely made up for that goal. Oilers are lucky to only be down 1 now. They flubbed all their good chances in this game, Fleury hasn't actually had to make many huge saves. But we have given up a load of chances against that Vegas got on net.
Hope they can gut out the 3rd and tie it.

Reversal in the 2nd, Koski rebounds and the guys up front to a man struggled. So many turnovers, couldn't handle the forecheck, just outclassed. Jesus, get moving in the 3rd boys, I don't think MK can keep his finger in the dike leak much longer.
