So after both teams dueled in the media for the title of most embarrassing NHL team this week, now they faceoff on the ice as well!
Interesting odd stat for this year:
The Oilers have three of the 16 most penalized players in the league. Kassian is 8th with 91 minutes. Lucic is tied for 11th with 87 minutes and Darnell Nurse is 16th with 79 minutes. The Oilers are tied in 6th in the league in total PIMs and 10th in the league for minors. We also have the 30th best record for killing penalties at 75.3%, allowing 56 goals against when down a man.
Only Colorado's allowed more PPGs against, and only Chicago has a worse kill.
If we're looking for areas where there's a real significant potential for improvement, PK might be a good place to start. Median PPG against would be 43 GA - right there is enough to make up for the 12-14 goals Nicholson was expecting out of Toby Rieder...

Somehow if we win were only 4 points out. How are we still in this?
