I hope the guys go out tonight and have a good time on the Vegas strip. They’ve earned it. Party like Hall is still on the team!

Kosko is good for one bad goal against
Russell is good for one bad goal against.
Between the rest of the D, another one.
Add in some bad luck or a bad giveaway by a forward like Drai tonight and the Oilers need 5 to win a lot of nights.

When you have three players who can score and two that actually generate offense you arent winning many games, especially against teams with any kind of depth.

That was the story of this game and it is a perfect microcosm for the season.

I want the last Oiler goal of this 2018/19 to be scored in game 82 by Tobias Rieder.

And I want it to be an empty netter.

That could be a major goal, it could prevent the Flames from winning the division as the already eliminated Oilers play spoiler.

Unfortunately what will happen is it will be Drai's 50th, that rolls over Rieder's skate lace to rob Drai of 50. Amid all the excitement KG accidently extends Rieder For 5*5

I might get flamed for this buuut...

I feel bad for Kosko!

Not for how much he makes but, I mean to get paid like a starter and get trotted out as a starter and get hung out to dry by a peewee level defense while competent teams exploit his weaknesses over and over is painful to watch.

He's buy-out fodder and will limp back to Finland but at least he'll be rich.

Agents just love dealing with the Oilers. Good on Kosko and Milan's agents though.

How does Katz stand for this?

No flaming here. Koskinen is still pretty much a rookie (<60 games), I think he's even waiver exempt. Dubnyk was weak shoulder high and that was the shooter's book on him. The Oilers' goalie coach was unable to work with Dubnyk to make it better, so a career was sidetracked- luckily he turned it around by getting away from here. Koskinen is in the same boat. He needs coaching to adjust to the NHL game, rink, angles and shooters. I believe at this point he would be a good part of a tandem duo playing 50/30 or 45/35. Unfortunately, he's being treated like an experienced #1 starter and the powers-that-be think he can play like Talbot did. Didn't work with Talbot, didn't work with Dubnyk, doing the same thing won't work again.

In conclusion, our current goalie has potential if he's worked with to improve his weaknesses and given a defensive corps in front of him that knows positioning, play-making, clearing the zone and situational awareness.

...as i have said every year since 2000...still waiting...don't hold your breath...culture...red wine...scapegoats...the truth is out there...cancers in the dressing room...a thing or two about winning.

Knowledgeable Vegas fans yellin Subban's name for goalposts and missed nets....hilarious.

Oilers didn't muster a lot, usual contributors tonight and the usual guys being devoid of offence. They would have had to score a bushell to win this one as Koskinen didn't give them a damn chance. That was preseason Koskinen bad tonight. No show. Thanks for that last signing, Chiarelli.

Oilers had some good looks notably Drai shorthanded all alone, goal like that changes the complexion of the game possibly. Woulda coulda shoulda.

Anyhow, they're done, they've been done for awhile as they've not changed position and running out of games. Next task for this team is in the offseaon to shed some of the stink that Chiarelli brought in, to take the poison levels in the Oilers' well down below lethal levels. Get some dead weight outta here. GM of the year to rid the team of 27 and his deal, plus one or two of Chiarelli's cerebral moves.

Koski's first purchase when that new contract kicks in is new gear. I've seen that puck go off his glove catching netting so many times this season. He's more or less able to catch that puck, but it seems to spin up and over that area of the glove. At least 3 of the 6 goals went in that way in my eyes, but all I had watched was the highlights. Forgotten to watch at least the last 10 or so games, cause....it's Oilers.

Kostawin glove how many times?

Im shocked MJ keeps this site alive anymore. I'm glad he does, but does anyone really think the Oilers are even somewhat relevant?

In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

That was one of the biggest things I noticed yesterday was the glove hand. Then the one that hits the glove fully open and still goes in. Hopefully that is something that can be worked on or 3 more years of this will be bad. Although maybe a better team play can hide some of those deficiencies.

Don't worry, it gets better over the next decade. I'm pushing 40 (how the eff did that happen?) and I'm quicker and healthier than ever....

In other news I somehow pinched a nut (right) at ball hockey last night and had trouble sleeping because of it.

Oh man... those nut injuries are the worst. Playing soccer a few months back, I somehow pinched righty when I volleyed a ball (kicked in mid-air for those unknowing soccer terms). Dropped like a fly and had to be helped off (yeah, yeah... soccer player isn't touched and falls to the ground). Anyway, I ended up passing out from the pain that night and did a pretty good face plant. Dangerous stuff those nut injuries.
