Ugh... comparing that beauty of a jersey on Gretz with that travesty above. Just awful.

I really like the orange 3rd, but tbh I like it because it's "3rd". I also really like the home blue, so it's unfortunate that they won't be around for a while. I hope they do come back.

I like the orange. I like the blue. I like having three jerseys.
How is Adidas not prepared for this? They've had the contract forever, and they are a major global brand. Kind of shoddy on their part if they are suddenly caught in a time crunch.

I like the orange, but I don't like it as the home jersey. Call me a non-WHA traditionalist, but I think the Blue jerseys are the proper contrast to the whites.
Why every time the NHL gets a new jersey sponsor do they have to go and do stupid things with jerseys? At least we're not getting a bunch of radical new idiotic designs that no one wants this time...

Adidas getting their bearings is BS as Reebok is owned by Adidas. Not sure why NHL is doing away with 3rd, maybe it has hit saturation point and bringing back to 1 will get all those with 3rds to conform to the new home (and vise versa in YEG).
I like the orange but also like the traditional blue so I'm not overly fussed. One area it will look food is on TV if the whole arena is wearing the orange jerseys, the dark blues don't stand out that much on TV compared to the sea of red in YYC.

The "getting their bearings" angle is simply they want Adidas to sell jerseys. They want the only jerseys being produced to be the new Adidas jerseys and nothing else. That way if anyone wants to buy a jersey, they have to get the new design. Not entirely stupid strategy.
As for the oranges, personally I love them in person but I hate them on TV. This is entirely because I'm inept when it comes to figuring out how to work the HD on my TV and still watch games in standard def. I can't read the numbers on the orange when in SD. I know I'm an idiot with this, but it drives me nuts. Laziness plays a large part in this, but I'll certainly miss the blues.

I'm sure you're right. This is about trying to sell everyone a new home Adidas jersey, and then in two years time, re-launching a bunch of third jerseys, also with Adidas logos, that they hope you'll buy too.
We'll see how it goes. I believe RBK had the lowest selling Oilers jerseys of all-time when they messed with things, and the Oilers have sold so many orange jerseys (plus given a bunch away to every season ticket holder last year), so I don't know if there will be a huge glut of sales for Adidas.
Here's hoping they don't include a sponsor patch too...

The jersey decisions is just an angle to sell more jerseys.
I'm not a fan of the orange as the home jersey, it was fine as a 3rd but I think you could see it going that way went KatzCo gave every season ticket holder an orange jersey.
I like the blue as the home (or actually it should be the away jersey) and the whites be home... because that's how it should be.

I want the dark blue PJ jersey back.....or they should roll out the McFarlane version.....kidding, but I did like the dark blue/copper combination.

The 1997-2006 jerseys? I thought those were really sharp. I went in determined to dislike them because it was a change from tradition, but they did a nice job with that. Right up until Reebok got involved and for some reason the Oilers didn't tell them to get lost, despite the fact that Lowe, Nicholls, and others all later said they didn't like what Reebok had done, and despite the fact that other organizations like New Jersey and Montreal had said specifically that they had not let Reebok do anything to their core design.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority for this one but I would love to see the Oilers have the Blue as their home jerseys and the Orange as the road jersey. Not a big fan of white jerseys and white ice.
Just my opinion.

I guess this was expected because teams were going to have 3rd Jerseys in the 2nd year of Adidas but looks like the Oilers will bring back the royal blue jersey :

If they're going to use blue for a home jersey, go back to the dark blue, not the royal blue. I want a more ominous color of blue, navy or darker.

I agree with you guys, I think if they even stuck with the current colour scheme they currently have and do the majority blue jersey it would pretty sweet. Keep the same shade of orange as well! Someone should try and photo shop that.

Agreed, looks terrible. What ever happened to the rumblings that we were going back to the 16-17 blue Home uni's? I'd prefer that over the orange eyesores from last year.

I'm sure those aren't the final 3rds, it's more of a visual how cool it would look if they went darker blue (minus the crappy piping and faux string ties).
Looks like the 3rd's will be the royal blue if that Sport Chek description is of any indication.

A couple of things are off about this.
1. The NHL shield is on the back and they have been on the front more recently.
2. The Adidas logo is on the chest and those tend to be on the back of the neck.
3. The neck line doesn't seem to match any other jerseys

Is the NHLPA patch by the numbers something new too?

Looks to be. I believe that some of the jerseys in the late 80s/90s had an NHLPA patch on the lower right side of the jersey, but i dont really care enough to search lol

I guess that is one way to boost sales, keep pumping out a new jersey.
I'm at the point where I'm getting jersey fatigue, pump out something that is nice that I would consider nice, and that pic... not a fan. Too orangey for my taste. Makes me put this one back with the oilers pajama ones.
So many options, I'd love to see the return of the McFarlane jersey, and I really want to see the traditional back.

Having a "current" jersey is a waste of time and money considering how often they change, unless there is a really fun playoff run to get behind, then I'd spring for it.

I remember when Oilers tickets used to be released slowly throughout the year, month by month. "February Tickets are NOW ON SALE" the radio ads would scream, but for some reason the demand kept drying up after Christmas. I have no Earthly idea why.

New 3rd jerseys look to pay homage to the classic 80's Oilers. As someone said the other day, we haven't celebrated that team since February so this is nice.
