"[It was] really cool to throw on the Oilers gear, the gear that I want to play the rest of my life wearing. It was pretty cool to put it on. With all the history, it was a lot of fun." - Connor McDavid, July 1, 2015

We finally catch a good break this year.
WOW- sadly, my highlight of the Oilers season.

I want to thank Todd Nelson for all those "meaningless" wins in the second half of the season, put us right where we needed to be

Yeah, if we didn't fire Eakins we likely would have been 29th and picking 3rd (if the lottery worked out the same way as this of course).

Zero worries about selling tickets next year or the next half dozen I bet. No reason for Katz to fire his buddies now.
But, let's not dwell on that today hehe. Maybe McDavid can make up for our management handicap.

Yup. Zero incentive to change now until after the new arena opens. It's a shame this good fortune will be squandered by cronyism.

For 1 night I'm going to forget our inept management, the disgust of the last 9 years, Dallas Eakins and all the bad things and just enjoy the best thing that has happened to us Oiler fans since 2006. Our management may not deserve this but WE most certainly do.

I think you're right. This is what happens when a great plan comes together.
In the presser, MacT stated 7 years without playoffs, when we all know it's 9. Hmm, those numbers look familiar....
9 and 7.

I am absolutely STUNNED at this. The conspiracy portion of my brain is picturing Daryl Katz stroking a check to the NHL for $1 billion for that win, but the reality is, our luck may have finally turned. Connor McDavid is going to seriously transform this team.
I'm getting hammered tonight

We deserve this. 9 years of sadness. We deserve this. Management sure doesn't...but screw it I'm wildly invested now.
For maths sake the odds of the Oilers getting the 1st overall every year that they did is as follows:
0.5*0.5*0.5*0.115 = 1.44%
Somebody loves us.
Edit: My math is wrong as I forgot we came 2nd last that one year of incremental growth so it actually goes like this:
0.482x0.482x0.188x0.115 = 0.502%

McDavid as an Oiler is Great news !!! Maybe even better though , methinks, will be the way UFAs will have a changed demeanor about the feasibility of joining The Oil. We have become , in one FELL swoop, a desirable place to play.

I strongly disagree. The Oilers are still the Oilers, just with a shiny new bow to distract everyone with. I implore you to make them prove they're not absolute garbage and not give them the benefit of the doubt because of an 18 year old.

Maybe this will make Katz take his head out of his... (damn you bot!) and take the steps that are much needed and painfully obvious to anyone who's work address isn't the Oilers front office

4 1st overall picks in 6 years. The one constant in management? Kevin Lowe. It works that way too I suppose.
