This in my opinion is the series. I think these teams are pretty even and the series has shown that. Extremely close games. Teams have took turns carrying parts of the game. If they win, they can easily win this series. If they lose, it's done. They aren't winning 3 games in a row on Dallas if they lose.

I’m nervous.

I won't lie, normally I am more confident but I am nervous as well and I am going to the game tonight.

I am hoping Leon comes out hard. He was all world the first 2 rounds but has been quiet, only 1 goal, 1 pt.

Nuge has gone quiet again. 1 assist.

Kane has been very quiet. I know Dallas doesn't like to mix it up like the Canucks or Kings so but he has to be more engaged. You shouldn't need a Dallas guy to wack you to get in guys faces or the goalies grill.

Nurse is taking a ton of heat. If he has any pride, he should play a good game.

I am expecting if McLeod comes back in he comes out like he was shot out of a cannon. HIs coach has McLeod's back and is a fan of his so for him to sit McLeod, means he was doing pretty bad. Use your speed, go hard to the net.

I feel like 1998 you probably said this before game 4 versus Colorado too...also in 1990 before the game 4 loss to the Winnipeg Jets.

It's a big game, and best if we just win it, but even if we don't, you're not beaten until you've lost four games - and the fourth is always the hardest as those two Oilers teams above showed.

That said, there's only been one team to come back from down 3-1 in the conference finals - the 2000 New Jersey Devils. That team went on to win the Cup, but I'm okay with us taking the easier route for now and just winning tonight.

LET'S GO!!!

I'm kind of surprised that we're going to see that many different bodies going in and out.. and one of them isn't Ceci.

Vinny might be hurt? His ice time dropped a lot last game and it must have been hard for Knob to go back to Nurse/Ceci, who ended up with an abysmal shift (among many other bad shifts) that lead to the GWG.

I don't think Vinny has made plays as egregious as some of our other lower D. xGF 55.54% in the series. Ceci 36%. But if Vinny is broken now, I guess no choice. I am pretty worried now that we are likely to have to go a full game with a Nurse+Ceci pair in a must win. That was a pretty heavy Vegas series flashback last game.

Regardless of all that. Our coach trying to figure out which of Ceci or Vinny to have to play against good comp in an "all in" year for the cup and the only injury is Stecher. That's just criminally bad GMing.

Looks like Broberg, McLeod and Perry are in. Desharnais, Carrick and Foegele out.

I got no problem with Foegele. I thought given his season and he being a UFA, he would have a great playoff. Guys can make BIG money as UFA's off of 1 playoff and he's been lousy. They sat McLeod based on poor play so I have no problem sitting Foegele as he hasn't been really any better.

Desharnais has struggled a bit and had a very bad give away last game plus this series is not overly physical and PP's aren't happening so you can live without his PK.

Carrick, I am a little surprised. As a 4th line center, I think he's done his job just fine. I thought the 4th line has been pretty good. The Stars love to cycle and I think he can do that way better than Ryan. Ryan other than his PK hasn't done much in my opinion and I am not sure he's capable of being a 4tyh line center but I won't lose sleep over it.

I am hoping McLeod got the message. Use your speed and take the puck to the net. Goals are scored between the hashmarks not spinning circles around the net.

I like the addition of Perry. The Oilers need some guys who can score some greasy goals and they need guys who can cycle to get some zone time, something that the Stars are doing well. Oettinger is too good of a goalie to get beat from distance very often so he needs more guys in his face and Perry can do that. Plus I do wonder if he has some words he could say on the bench if the Oilers get rattled because they got rattled in the second period and sometimes, words resonate more from a teammate.

Broberg, I worry about him not playing in forever but Dallas isn't overly physical and his skating and puck moving might help.

Some in the media making the comment about how out of character Nurse was in his presser. Very short answers, ended it abruptly before they were done asking question. He's taking a ton of justified heat because he's been playing very poorly. He looked pissed, he should be pissed. Enough talking, let your play do the talking.

I will give Knoblauch props again. He is ballsy. A ton of NHL coaches would stay status quo with the 6 dmen that got you to where you are. Scratching Desharnais and inserting Broberg who hasn't played this playoff is gutsy and not easy. I like he's willing to do that.

Lots of guys need to play way better but if McLeod doesn't come out looking like there is a fire under his ass, then I think the organization has to ask themselves some serious questions about his future. If he can't come out and play the best game of the playoffs, then he's got problems.

It really feels like the team sent out a memo letting the local monkeys know that Nurse is fair game all of a sudden. He didn't just start being terrible this playoffs but they are all over him now. Its possible the oilers realized that the only way out of this is if he waves his no trade. And even then they are going to need to give up a ton to unload him. Too bad they don't have a first..

The team is elite when (9.)25 is on the bench. The problem is that someone is going to draw the short straw tonight and have to play with him. Not an easy job.

About time that 90 got back in the lineup IMO.

The crazy thing is that Nurse has been probably 4th best defenceman at worst most nights this post-season. That's a big part of the problem, if you ask me. I think if he has a partner who's capable of playing at a relatively high level, then Nurse would be fine. With Ceci and Desharnais, he's forced to be the puck-mover on the line as well as the most defensively sound.

It is weird to see the media jackals going after someone who's a big wheel on the team in the third round of the playoffs. I hope he has a fantastic game so they can ask some other dirtbag follow-ups this evening.

I took the interview as Nurse being a pouty little beatch because of the negative press in regard to his AWFUL play. The numbers don’t lie, and they are fugly. He deserves ALL of it.

The team is on a bit of thin ice, and 9.25 Darnell is making it about himself and his feelings and is being a pouty boy now? Nice look Darnell.

I could give a damn about the crappy press today. Nurse appeared to be a suck. Didn’t sit good with me at all. There’s more at stake than your feelings today Darnell.

What a huge mistake this big stiff was.

Yet there is still a large group of fans that parrot their BS. Take a spin around some of the other beat writers in the league and you will find the Oilers have the most negative, management boot licking, entitled group of them all.

I am glad I quit reading/listening to anything the put out years ago. The only exposure I have to them is on here and I am happy to see there are only a select few still regurgitating their garbage.

Outside of Gene (not here for his hockey mind) is there a singe journalist that the players enjoy talking to?

Rishaug all pissy because Nurse didn't stay for 10 minutes to answer their inane questions.

https://www.nhl.com/oilers/video/pre-raw-darnell-nurse-05-29 -24-6353884858112

You'd think the media would spend more time figuring out that there's an injury to one of our players than they would getting grouchy because the guys didn't spend more time chatting with them.

Spec is in a tier of his own, but Rishaug is in that tier directly following him. Clowns.

A single one that anyone actually gets insight from?

I want to think DNB, though he has had his moments too, he seems to be the most logical/level headed.

Fair answer. I follow him on X but admittedly dont spend much time on that app anymore. Does he write somewhere?

Rishaug might be riding high. I assume he cracked the case of the Stetcher injury because he is the best.

The ONLY positive he can stake a claim in is having Strudwick on his pod... once Strudwick goes to EST Rishaug will be nothing

Wow that's a lot of roster turnover.. Desharnais's turnstile on Stankoven led to one GA last game but he wasn't the worst D-man IMO.. I guess Broberg is playing RHD? Broberg was playing over 30 minutes in Bakersfield.. but on his natural side.. left.. however he's a lot more mobile than VD.. BIG test for the man!

Foegle wasn't bringing anything.. hands of stone.. and he's coughed up almost as many pucks as McLeod did before he was benched..
Carrick was effective.. but McLeod's speed was missed for zone entries.. I guess tonight we'll see if McLeod has any self respect..

I would have kept Carrick in for Ryan. Carrick is bigger, not that it matters that much in this series but more physical. I think he skates a little better and he's been better at faceoffs this series. I've thought the 4th line was pretty good since he came in and except for the PK, Ryan isn't giving the team much.

Carrick getting plenty love from Oilers media, but it's the typical grinder bias. There's not much there that he's doing that isn't easily replaced by even a cardboard cut out.

He's played in 8 playoff games, and has only 4 shots in that whole time. He's okay on the faceoff, but really, does nothing else. He has 28 hits, which is why guys like Bob Stauffer are going to love him. That said, if those hits are not leading to puck retrievals and chances on goal? Then they have very limited impact.

Last game he played all of 8:40, was -1 and had one shot on goal. That's a pretty low bar for his replacement.

Worth noting, Ryan isn't much better this playoff. 8 shots in 12 games playing 9 mins a night. He's got more track record, but I don't think there's a lot of gas left in that tank. The Oilers have decided that they prefer aged veterans to promising youth, but I do wonder what it looks like if they would have a couple of the young guys from the AHL team in those roles instead.

Some really good in-game adjustments by DeBoer so far in the series.

Knob has his work cut out for him, especially considering the group he has to get executing adjustments.
