After the disappointing failure of Ron Hextall as GM of the Flyers, the team went back to the well to get more alumni to run the squad:

I do really enjoy seeing other NHL teams still stuck in this trap too. I mean, those guys played the game! They know what it's like to be in the room or at ice level! But generally they suck at negotiations, know nothing about managing a salary cap and have zero experience at trading anything but hockey cards.

I won't be predicting any rapid rise from the ashes for the Flyers anytime soon...

It's disappointing the Flyers aren't in the Smythe Division with the Oilers.

Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

They do seem ideal to trade with though. Or at least would if our GM wasn’t also a joke.

Ah, the KLowe/Katz model.

That fanbase will pay dearly.

Sounds like Philly media is at least questioning why they would hire a guy with zero management experience as Team President though...that's one-up on Edmonton.

They're up against some savvy first moves by Jones - cautioning that things are really bad and it could take a long time to get better. Always a good step to buy yourself time to learn the role by blaming your predecessors and setting out a road map that doesn't require the team to be competitive any time soon. You want to get at least 2-3 years of paycheques in before you start to feel the heat...
