Well even the Art Ross is slipping away from Connor, Kuch is on an absolute tear.
Coyotes played in Calgary last night, losing 5-2, and will likely look like the more energized team tonight even with playing last night.
I’m just hoping to see some good hockey.

There will be a lot of good hockey tonight, it's just unlikely to happen at Rogers Place.

Guaranteed win tonight. With playoffs and individual awards out of reach it is time to dig deep and hurt our draft lotto odds.
You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

I'm actually blown away people are still flocking to that rink even for 30 bucks.
I make a point of not financially supporting the current regime. However, my wife got tickets to the cirque show on the weekend. My second time in the new building. Good lord! the experience is terrible. Like seriously awful. None of the parking meters work, massive lines for everything, concourse packed in like sardines, no discernable traffic flow planning, gouge level prices...I could go on..
Seriously, the next time I go there someone better pay me 30 bucks. I know the Oilers are crap but it turns out the arena experience is crap to. I would honestly be interested to hear why on earth are people actually putting themselves through that rather than watching the game at home or whatever?

Jack Michaels never calls Tobias Rieder just by his last name during play by play. He always has to say "Toby" in front of it. I think he just loves saying "Toby Rieder". I don't know why it annoys me.
I should do a drinking game where whenever Jack Michaels says "Toby", I take a shot.
I'd be lit by the end of the 1st.

Jack Michaels is terrible! Gawd I miss Rod Phillips!
The Oilers were coming out of their funk with the Hall draft and they had to go and hire a loud-mouth Yank Rod-wanna-be ... THAT’s what’s in the water!!
(only about 2/3 serious here, I’m sure there are some good American announcers out there, but Jack Michaels is definitely NOT one of them!)

I miss Rod Philllips and 1990 too, but Rod was long past his prime when he finally hung up the old microphone. Unfortunately this puts Jack Michaels in a tough spot. His only comparable is to a long time legend, who got to call the glory years, in a town that is nourished by nostalgia. I think Jack a pretty good game now, yes he had some growing pains in the first years, but I don't mind listening to CHED now.

Congrats to Josh Currie on making his NHL debut tonight.
Nice to see him as a goal scorer get a chance to play with other skilled players like Nuge too.
Oh wait.
Nuge gets "may never score again" Rieder and newly acquired Gagner. Currie gets to ride the 4th line with offensive dynamoes Brodziak & Rattie.

I’m beginning to wonder how much control our HC’s have. I mean I want to assume they control the lineup, especially in game, but I’m wondering if lineup cards don’t come in from above?
Then again... what really does he and his predecessor have to work with!?

Roster strength is the issue. Todd was an imperfect coach but did better in San Jose. And there’s no questioning Hitchcock’s résumé but a guy can only do so much with these players. The crazy thing is that the supporting cast has been this bad for so many years.

Anyone remember the days where we had no talent and nothing but heart and guts. What I'd give to be able to slot McDavid and Driasatl into our 1997- 2006 teams. We would be unbeatable.

Chris Pronger says hello.
In all seriousness, the ”heart and soul” has been missing in large part ever since that 06 run. Even leading up to that run, the Oilers were a team with low talent but huge heart and they were always at least in the mix for a playoff spot.
It was a vastly different time back then though. Nowadays there is a lot more sense of entitlement like playing in the NHL is their privilege and not something earned. Now obviously not all players are this way, just pointing out a common theme throughout society and the workforce today.
Would be a nice change to see an Oiler team playing with heart again.
Btw, Oscargasm’s #BoldPrognostication: Coyotes 1 - Oilers 4. Rieder WILL pot his first tonight, on a greasy feed from Samwise

It was surprising to me to hear today that it is his first NHL game, he’s been with the organization for a while. His numbers aren’t anything special at the AHL level but some of the players called up haven’t scored as much as he has. Send guys up hungry to play, score once and you’re ahead of Rieder. Sorry, TOBY Rieder, can’t forget the Toby.

It’s just such a unique name, Toby. You don’t hear it over on this side of the World, Toby that is. It’s more of a European name. Toby is much more popular over there. Toby Rieder is German. Toby Rieder was also an Oilers draft pick, did you know that? Toby Rieder also has scored at a decent clip over his career, easily relied on to provide secondary offence. But not the Oiler version of Toby, apparently. Toby, the Oiler, miraculously has as many goals as Mikko Koskinen this season. Toby Toby Toby.

NZ Oiler Fan wrote on Tue, 19 February 2019 16:19 | Congrats to Josh Currie on making his NHL debut tonight.

|

Is anyone having a board game party tonight?
Or are you out of luck and having to watch the game?

Good grief that almost looks like a split squad pre-season lineup at forwards.
