Surprised there isn't a thread for this already with Crosby, Celebrini, Bouchard and Nurse representing Canada. Ike Howard made Team USA and Josh Samanski is suiting up for Germany.
Canada clinched 1st in Group B today after beating Slovakia 5-1. They've gone 6-0-1-0 so far, their only blemish (if you can call it that) being an overtime win over Norway.
Led by Matthew Tkachuk, the US is in 6th in Group A with losses to Switzerland, Finland and Latvia. They edged Germany in a shootout and beat the mighty team from Great Britain. Their final two games are against Hungary and Austria, so they may yet limp in to the quarterfinals.
Bouchard has 1-4-5 in the six games so far and leads the team at +11 (Josi leads the tourney at +12 for the 6-0 Swiss). Nurse has five assists so has also been a contributor, although shows up in a little too many of the goals against highlights for my liking.
Howard leads the US in scoring at 3-1-4 in five games. Samanski leads all Oilers with 1-5-6 in Germany's six games (tied for 3rd on the team).
"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55

I've been following the Canada games and checked in on Samanski and Howard for a few games..
Canada doesn't actuall have 1st in pool B locked up yet.. Canada has 1 game left.. they play Czhechs last game and the Czhechs have 2 games left.. Norway tomorrow.. so Czechs can still win pool B.
Bouchard has looked good at both ends of the ice.. he's their best D-man.. he could have really helped in the Olympics.. Hcokey Canada screwed up (again) .. Bouchard and/or Schaefer should have been on that team.. Bouchard actually looks like he's seeing the play really well, hasn't gotten into trouble.
Nurse.. his stats are a little decieving.. 2 of his assists were accidents.. one it was on a 2 on 1 with Tavares.. Tavares is uncovered heading towards the net.. wide open net.. the play is the pass to Tavares.. wide open.. Nurse decides to shoot .. the shot naturally hits the defencemans stick and then deflects right on to Tavares stick for the open net goal..
The other assist was vs Slovenia.. in the slot 25 winds up and takes a shot on net.. stick shatters and the puck skids off to the side face oof circle and Cozens snipes it into the open net..
Nurse can wheel.. but still making similar questionable decisions in his own end.. although he has some elite forwards covering up in the D-zone.. like R. O'Reilly.. the guy is a defensive machine.. (wish we had a guy like that)
Samanski has stood out for Germany.. the TSN commentator singled him out from the German team.. hopefully he has a good summer training and can compete for a spot in September.
Howard has played pretty well for USA.. but that is a real smurf team this year.. not very strong.. Howard plays position well, gets open space.. but speed may be a factor when he plays in the NHL.. he hasn't been out skating anyone at the WC level that I've seen so far..
Also noticing guys like Hollway and C. Brown .. would really look good with the Oilers. Holloway especially .. the guy has a strong motor with elite speed.
