I thought his fancy stats were not good but apparently he is fantastic.

meh. Same kind of stats that said Nino Niederreiter was a hockey god. Happy analytics, with nothing actually tangible that is impressive, 0 +/- and a ~25 point pace for the season on 29th place team.

Blue are having a weird year, lots of trailing in games. I think JFresh stats are relative to teammates as well, and Faulk and some of the other Blue's D are stinky defensively which makes the Parayko/Broberg paid look godly by comparison. Broberg's xGF drops a good amount away from Parayko as well, which Parayko is still >50% away from Broberg (Broberg 47% without Parayko).

Hope the Blues enjoy that deal. I still think this lad is pretty overrated after a lucky last season.

I'd still take Broberg at 8 over Nurse at 9.25 though

Indeed. And there is no question we screwed up royally with broberg as an asset.

It is a fact today that a team is willing to pay him 6x8M. We lost him for a pick and we had zero clue what he was capable of as he went out the door. Holland never had a clue what he could do, along with Holloway, our pro scouts and development team didn’t t have a clue. Bowman didn’t have a clue. JJ didn’t have a clue. Add to the list of brutal mismanagement events over the last 2 decades.

Another guy we would be happy to have that left without us having a clue what he was worth, Kesselring out the door for peanuts too when we were desperate for a RHD. He’s had a tough year of injuries but probably will be back strong soon.

Regardless how Oilers valued Broberg.. Sweden decided he was one of their top 8 defencemen.. and he probably is.

I'd take Broberg over Walman.. and of course Nurse.. but Nurse's NMC is the boat anchor and wasn't/isn't going anywhere..

This was one of the worse player assement decisions ever by the Oilers.. and there have been many.. Miro Satan.. Ray Whitney..

Having a top pairing D man for 8M in today's market would be amazing..he'd be the best skating defenseman on the team.. and was before he left.. a rare talent to have.

Instead our replacement for Broberg is Walman who before his injury was looking like hot garbage.

What pisses me off, is they gave away the compensation pick and another pick and a prospect for Max Jones because “we’re in the window” and “sell, sell, sell”.
