Forgot Eakins got the boot. Hope they keep stinking!

I had never looked at Greg Cronin until just now after reading this comment from Kr55. That's a really interesting hire by the Ducks:

Realizing that I lack some context not knowing what his teams look like, he's had 8 mostly mediocre years coaching college hockey, and 7 more in the AHL. The AHL records are better than the college ones, but he doesn't seem to have ever gone deep in the playoffs with any team in any of those 15 years. He's also had 11 years as an assistant coach in the NHL, mostly with bad teams.

I wonder what it was about him that the Ducks liked. It's not even like he was their AHL coach, so this isn't a familiarity hire. And looking at his rosters, it's not like he's graduated a higher than normal number of players to the big leagues from his squads. Maybe there's a sense that he has done as well as could be hoped for with some mediocre teams?

Anyhow, I too share Kr55's hope that he's also dreadful and that that team stays crummy for the foreseeable future.

"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55
