It's that time again to start getting up at 3am to watch the Oilers play! The joys of it all, I'm trying to temper my expectations after reading what all the "experts" are saying and yet watching pre-season.
Here's to this season being a bit shorter than the last one, but us winning one more play-off game than last year.
Take me home, country road
to the place where I belong
to Alberta, to see the Oilers
take me home, country road

Ugh, 11pm puck drop for me...which will likely be closer to midnight by the time they get done the announcements.
I'll just catch the highlights in the morning.
Go Oilers!

Start of the schedule sets us up to avoid the start we had last year. Gotta perform still. Hopes and prayers for our 2nd D pair!

It's hard to believe that this is still an area of concern.
Still, this is the first time I've really been optimistic about the Oilers since we stopped loving each other around '08. I don't think there's anyone on the team now, or in hockey operations, that I have a strong dislike for.
Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

I'm glad the pre-season is over. For two reasons.
1) The pessimists can stop talking about the results from the pre-season. (They don't mean anything. During the Decade of Darkness there were several perfect or near-perfect pre-seasons.)
2) So, we can stop with all the projections of why the Oilers are going to win it all this year. The fact that there's a small majority of "experts" saying this team is the biggest pile of bandwagon-jumping I've seen since the Leafs made the playoffs during the Gilmour years. I like the team too, but it makes me nervous when EVERYONE likes them. (Once again, the Decade of Darkness has scarred me. We're not supposed to be this good, right? I mean, we are and it should've happened five years ago, but I digress. I'm preaching to the choir on here, right?)
What happened to all of my messages? lol (I guess it's been awhile) BlueSky: StefBarnes

Don't think it was mentioned here yet, but the Oilers did sign Travis Dermott (2-way deal) and it looks like he'll be in tonight ahead of Stetcher:
Nugent-Hopkins - McDavid - Hyman
Skinner - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Janmark - Henrique - Brown
Podkolzin - Ryan - Perry
Ekholm - Bouchard
Nurse - Emberson
Kulak - Dermott
Skinner
Pickard
Stetcher is the only healthy scratch, so the Oilers are carrying just 12 forwards. See how long that lasts.
