The NHL has decided to change the penalty assessed to the Sens for not informing Vegas of the no-trade obligations on Dadonov. See below:

The NHL is so bush league about this stuff. They assign a penalty for an action, and then they just randomly change it years later. The Sens might have let the pick go two years ago - instead they out-last the league and now get the pick back. We've seen this before - the Devils got hammered for trying to bend the rules on Kovalchuk, they waited long enough and the league blinked there too. I'm pretty sure there's another recent example I'm forgetting.
It was a harsh penalty when it was doled out, but man - have some level of conviction when you put your foot down.
