1 Cup

Is there a world where our current generational talent just took a hometown discount to try to make room for one of the all-time greats to come and join the squad?

I'm not meaning to write off the Penguins, as they can have Crosby and absolute garbage filling out the roster and they could probably make a run at the playoffs..... but, what if? What if the pundits aren't wrong and the Pens are a draft lottery team this year? How much would it take to convince Sid that adding him to a team already stacked with Connor, Leon and Bouch... might be the swan song run at the Cup he'd been destined for?

Dare to dream, folks.

No Cups

I think it would be more likely him going to the Avs. Crosby would get to choose where he goes, and he and MacKinnon are good buddies.

Honestly though, I just don't see him leaving. I think he values his legacy as being a one team player over winning Cup #4.

I'm dreading the possibility that Crosby ends up on the Panthers this time around. Using Barkov's cap space. And Barkov also comes back for playoffs and the NHL bends on their new playoff cap limit rules with an exception for players that were out the whole season.

Please don't let this happen hockey gods.

Agree. Plus, keep in mind that you would have to fit his $8.7M contract under the cap limit in the playoffs. Unless there is a significant injury to one of big four (2, 25, 29 or 97) I don't know how you could make that work without some big brain creativity or possibly playing short a player or two.
