Elite series management. Multiple high stick and a too many men call ignored by the refs to close this one out for Dallas.

We fell off the cliff after the end of the first, just couldn't get going from the start of the second period. Though having won game 1, it's not a huge worry in terms of the series yet, need a 60 minute game though moving forward.

Once in a while he has one like that. Almost every possession he tried to force a play that wasn't there. Zero interest in even looking towards the net.

Hope he has a bounce back in Edmonton.

I hope so because if not it will be a short series for Edmonton.

The dudes hurt. He’s lost some speed and when he had that chance in ot during game one it was almost like he was trying to position himself so he could shoot the puck a bit easier. There’s something wrong.

Oh yeah there's no doubt. I'd be shocked if he isn't having surgery when this run is over.

Side note, Ceci Kulak were a complete disaster in our zone almost all night. Dallas was clearly trying to get matchups against them. Cody Coffey had a good play on our goal, but aside from that, just a momentum generation machine for Dallas. Almost all their shifts just an endless fire drill in our zone.

There is so much evidence out there that Ceci is a sink no matter what pairing he plays for, the coach just can’t comprehend trying Stecher for a game. Would love to know what Parkatti is saying about it.

Are there stats for time spent in D-zone by player? Like you say, seems every time we were hemmed in, it was Ceci and Kulak on the ice. Would Stecher and/or Broberg be any worse?

I haven’t posted here in forever…however, Ceci is an unmitigated disaster out there. He needs to be replaced by Stetcher or even Broberg playing his offside. Carrick was too quiet tonight also, so he’s an easy replacement by Henrique if he is good to go. I would like to see Gagner in at some point also. As some of the pk guys are doing outstanding at that task but sweet f all otherwise. So I’m not sure who Gagner could go in for…maybe for Ryan but he is part of the pk so it does make that change harder to justify.
They outplayed Dallas badly in the first but being the Oilers the first shot of the game goes in…FFS when will they ever stop shooting themselves in the foot. doh
Dallas slowly took over in the second and salted it away in the 3rd.
Not too dire yet but they need to play a full 60 every game going forward!

Good point

Honestly it just seemed after the first period everyone fell asleep outside of Skinne r

Actually got to see the game live (super last minute decision) but didn't get to sit as close to the center as I'd like. Yeah I'm impressed by the 16 shots on net in the first but thought the quality of chances could've been generated with greater detail. Oettinger made some solid saves but the Oilers didn't execute like we know they can...Bouchard deking past a Stars forward and fanning on a wrister in the slot epitomized the underwhelming nature of last night's game. Yeah I get it....defenses tighten up during the postseason in any sport but still.

Great to see Brown get rewarded with a goal by being at the right place at the right time...then again, they need to stop losing games whenever they get depth scoring from a 3rd pairing D or bottom 6 forward. Oilers should be up 2-0 as we know the Stars are going to play well on the road.

As for the arena & pregaming experience, it was a fun one. Way more Oilers fans in attendance last night than Thursday as having a holiday weekend helped matters greatly. Met a lot of guys including Oilersnation who flew in from Edmonton not to mention all the faithful who drove in from Oklahoma or other parts of Texas. Ton of mingling & light-hearted trolling amongst fans as all the socializing reminded me of a football tailgate-like atmosphere. Unintentional "liquid diet" yesterday with all the great convos & tension from the game. Best part about last night according to the Oil faithful was the absence of Canucks fans lol.

What happened to cracking down on diving? Where is the fine?

Seguin proceeded to try to convince the ref there was a cut hidden in his beard for the next 30 seconds.

That said, what on earth is Nurse thinking there?

Wait so nurse is allowed to make physical contact with opposition players?? Who knew!

He clearly is not allowed. At least he is not allowed to rub a glove across their beard.

Ever since Nurse pummeled that putz Roman Polak in 2016 and got 3 games.. he's been a marked man for refs..
