Oilers better be ready for this one. Cannot come out like they did against the Hawks and wait to find their game. Tampa will be up 3-0 before you can say Campbell sucks.
Get in line for #9.

How is it possible we are playing Tampa to hit a 9 game win streak again?
Anyone remember the 2000/2001 season? :)

Eric Brewer OT winner vs Tampa for win 9 in a row. Gotta do it again to match the franchise 9 game win streak.

Today I learned that despite all those Gretzky years and the longest winning streak comes from an era of Eric Brewer.

I have to think that the 80s having the ability to have a game end in a tie probably made it tougher to have extended winning streaks. I would be curious how long the Oilers longest "non losing" streak would have been and what team would hold that record.

2000-01 also had ties after 5 minutes of OT. Looks like format was introduced in 83, so the comparison holds up for the Brewer team.

From what I've read, I think it was Muckler(?) who said that the 80s Oilers "never found a party they didn't like" or something like that-- they derailed their own winning streaks by partying too hard

Next 5 games all finish season series against eastern teams. Still 8 eastern teams they haven't played yet at all. Bit of an unbalanced schedule.
