I consider this a game they have to win. This is a weaker opponent. You can not take them lightly and have to get 2 pts.

Come on now. We all know the Flames sucked them dry. I'm expecting a soft game from them.

A little rest and some gatorade is all it takes. The Oilers aren't that old of a franchise.

We only have loads of experience doing the sucking. Not much the other way around.

I'd love to see a trade with Columbus. Something around ...
- Puljujarvi
- Foegele
- 2nd in '23
- 3rd in '23
for
- Nyquist @ 50% (UFA)
- Gavrikov @ 50% (UFA)
Cap savings ...
this year = $1.6
next year = $2.75
Foegele has one more year after this one ... maybe we also retain 20% on him, which would leave us with $1mil in cap space this year
This gives Pizza boy one more shot at the NHL, with his ol' buddy Laine. Maybe they'll catch fire for Columbus.
Foegele just doesn't fit here.
We get a bit of cap space, plus retain our 1st rounder for a forward to round out the top 6. I'd give up a 1st + for Kuzmenko.
Thoughts?

I'd be stunned if Columbus took JP just because the GM passed on him. Maybe some people think that doesn't mean anything but he clearly knew something that made it so he didn't like him back then and no offense but I don't think JP has done much to make the Finnish Gm like him more now. Maybe with Laine on the team there is a draw but I don't see it.

If there is any time in Pulju's life to "give 'er hell" and try and make something of it, it would probably be the back half of his potentially last NHL season, with a teammate he has a history of working well with (Laine).
What does Columbus really have to lose? They ain't making the playoffs. If he sucks, don't resign him. If he works out REALLY well with Laine, perhaps you consider it (in which case you could call the Columbus GM shrewd, since he dodged a bullet by not drafting Pulju, but later got him for very little).
In any case, Columbus wouldn't be doing it for Pulju, but rather the draft picks.

It's not a trap game. They're at home, well rested, and then playing another bad team Saturday after an appropriate rest. Just go to work and get two points.

We’ve talked about this before, recently too. There’s no magic Finnish radar on knowing if Finnish players are going to turn out or not. They picked a Center who the organization felt was the best fit for them at the time (and who ultimately they needed to trade because he didn’t want to be there. They made a bet, like everyone does at draft day.
Otherwise, everyone should hire at least one Finnish sage to help with their drafts.
Man - there are a lot of weak old recycled narratives being pushed in here today.
"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55
