Character win. Outside of 8-10 minutes in the second, the defense played very simply and methodically. Some depth contributions were nice. Campbell seemed relaxed, didn’t give his new gear a weird look on either goal. It was really nice to see them hard on the puck - good retrievals and way fewer turnovers. Play this way please.
"[It was] really cool to throw on the Oilers gear, the gear that I want to play the rest of my life wearing. It was pretty cool to put it on. With all the history, it was a lot of fun." - Connor McDavid, July 1, 2015

They played well. A couple pinches with no one covering came of nothing. They never quit skating and Campbell could have been the EBUG tonight with limited quality shots faced. Kostin looked good and Yamamoto must be healthy. He is back.
Campbell can no longer be interviewed. Gene Principe interviewed me once in Florida and I was horrible, I bombed (it’s a funny story for another time). Campbell was worse. He definitely wears his ego on his sleeve. Gene carried him back to positivity a few time, but Ol’Jack was playing the SNL Debbie Downer role to a tee.
Edit: Campbell played well. No slight against him, but he seems very fragile in interviews about his game. I get it, but as a fan I don’t want to actually hear it.

Good news on the OOT. Vancouver did Edmonton a favor by beating the Avs.
Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

Talk about a under performing team. I guess Kadri meant alot to them.

Just realize we get them next and this comment alone will likely schedule a severe ass kicking. My bad folks. FML.

I think it's more than just a cup hangover for the Avs...throughout last several years, the team has had core players (namely Landeskog) that have been perpetually injured even without deeper playoff runs....this is now starting to catch up to them after the deepest run they had last season.
I would also argue that the Avs don't exactly carry out the most polished system in that every player on that roster NEEDS to be playing at full speed at all times to be effective...and in recent years, they've proven to be VERY effective winning last year's cup obvs
