The Soup is spoiled. Dump it out.

I feel that one was truly on Broberg. He gave up trying to cover Lafreniere right in front of the net. Either way, not good.

It definitely was on Broberg. I just wish we had a goalie who can bail out Broberg and Bouchard who should both be in the AHL.

It's almost unbelievable that this season was risked on a never successful as a starter starter teaming with a rookie eligible (I think) back up while needing 2 out of Broberg, Holloway, and Bouchard to play like vets.

Except I believe it.

It was 100% predictable. I think a lot of us just wanted to be excited instead of cynical. I’m fully cynical at this point. Think they might finish fourth in the pacific.

Oh it was definitely predicted. The cynicism comes from how obvious the problems are and have been for over a decade and through multiple GMs and coaches.

I still think the top end is so good that they'll be able to drag the team into the playoffs where they'll be exposed by a real contender at some point, but Clutch could be right. This team could finish 4th or 5th in the Pacific and miss the post season entirely.

I hate how much Coffey becoming special advisor for the D helps to explain our season so far.

Awful goaltending. Team with no confidence.

The Oilers are on the verge of spiralling badly.

Well, this is looking like 2 shutouts in a row. 5 pucks past Campbell on 18 shots. Good stuff.

I just don’t understand how you can’t build a contender with McDavid and Draisaitl in the fold.

At best we beat Florida and Chicago and go into December 1 game over .500. Missing the playoffs is a very real possibility. Fighting for a spot until the end is now a certainty. I just don’t know anymore.

You gotta admit those pants on that play were pretty gosh darn fancy.

Not fancy enough to cover for five (5) pucks crossing the Oilers goal line though. 5 so far.

Clearly we just need more advisory hours with Paul Coffey. He charges 3x for OT though

The team has such little faith in Campbell, they all decided to play goalie on that third goal....

He plays exactly like Talbot did when his confidence was low. Same style, same inability to steal a game, same inability to make early saves.

It's beyond embarrassing now. For me, this isn't a confidence issue anymore. This is purely just him as a goalie. He had some luck, if anything in TO... And now we see why Dubas backed out when he heard the price for this guy. And normally, that seems like a mistake Dubas would make.

You can have bad games here and there, but every game he has played, except 2, have been terrible.

Zero quality candidates were discovered from the attempt unfortunately

Only goalie we have able to play well anything close to consistently is being disrespected on the bench.

They aren’t even likeable right now. No heart. No excitement. No emotion. Just two (largely uninspiring, at this point) superstars with a bunch of underachieving JAGs cashing cheques.

Edit: I really like Hyman. He deserves the edit.

This was the first thing I thought when I seen that Soup was in net.

It's time management realizes they made a mistake in a goalie that isn't having confidence issues, he's just not a good goalie.

Even if he can be. Make him earn it. What is all this desperation to have him magically figure it out while we piss games away and kill his confidence even more? He should be playing every second game at the absolute max and probably should be every 3rd right now.

I agree. Every 3rd is fair....or until Skinner has a really bad game, that wasn't due to the players in front of him.

It's all desperation for this team now. And we showed that off the start with a McDavid/Drai line. This team is spiralling fast.

Little difference when you go 2 hours without scoring. That idiotic drop pass from Drai to a guy that just doesn't score ever is pretty telling. Jack Michaels suggesting Drai playing 'the long game'? 🤣🤣

Does 29 have money on the game? Passing on shot opportunities.

Through 2 here and another debacle manifesting itself. Goaltending, defending, and probably most importantly, not scoring for 2 hours of hockey. No help from the PP.

This is around when Chia started digging a hole it would take years to get out of when he realized his job was in danger. We gonna let one of the worst trading GMs in history go into desperation mode too?

That is pretty scary. They need to punt him and Nicholson to the curb before it gets too desperate.

We're already in a multi-year hole. The second the Oilers had waited long enough to get out of Chia's cap hell Holland went out and spent every cent he had. Look at the Oilers cap friendly, we're stuck watching this defense through next season. The only real relief coming is Pulju's contract and Sekera / Lucic FINALLY coming off the books.

"[It was] really cool to throw on the Oilers gear, the gear that I want to play the rest of my life wearing. It was pretty cool to put it on. With all the history, it was a lot of fun." - Connor McDavid, July 1, 2015

The kids might be alright? Maybe the gamble paid off? Hope floats?

I actually think this thread more caputures the essence of the main contributors to this site. There's tons of comments from the first two periods where people can whine and complain on how much the team sucks. Then after the comeback we have a few scattered comments before the thread ends. For years now there's been a trend on here where there's a lot more comments during the bad times than the good times, which I've never understood.

To me this game was the reason to be a hockey fan. If you didn't get any joy from this comeback, why even be an Oiler fan?
