Uninspiring numbers, but who knows. A depth draft pick goalie is always a shot in the dark. Maybe he's the next Tim Thomas.
"Thinking that a bad team's best players are the reason the team is bad is the "Tambellini re-signing Lennart Petrell" of sports opinions." @Woodguy55

P. Chiarelli math.. T. Hall = A. Larsson, Yak= bag o'pucks (OK he got one right...) K. Russell = $4.1 M+NMC, G. Reinhart= M. Barzal + A. Beauvillier, J. Eberle = R. Spooner,

This courtesy of SwedishPoster over on Lowtide's blog.. adds some info.. sounds like his team in Sweden has success at developing goalies.

I don’t have much on Samuel Jonsson, I can’t really evaluate goalies all that well tbh so rarely zoom in on them and can’t say I’ve heard a lot of talk on him.
He played for Brynäs this past season and a pretty bad U20 team so his sv% might sell him short. He was at least well regarded enough by Brynäs that they were comfortable sending away their #2G and letting Jonsson back up for a bunch of games.
He’ll play for Rögle next season, will be with their U20 team, they’re one of the best run clubs in Sweden atm so that’s not a bad move, they’ve done a great job developing Calle Clang recently who seems to be tracking towards an NHL career.
Big kid at 6’5, looks up to Jakob Markström(who also came up through the Brynäs system, they do have a decent record on goalies). That’s what I’ve got, will try to dig out more as next season rolls along. Goalies will goalie so who knows how he’ll turn out.

Just noticed this kids games played in the last few years.. he's hardly played.. maybe we get a diamond in the rough.. or.. he played so few games because he was never the best goalie option on his teams.. time will tell. Some of the low GP stat might be covid shortened seasons..

2021/2022 31GP
2020/2021 8GP
2019/2020 21GP
2018/2019 22GP
2017/2018 4GP
Total 86 GP in 5 years.. 17GP per year.
Someone had to have spotted something in this kid.. Oilers must have a Swedish goalie spy over there because there is not much game time to make any judgement on him.. and they picked him with their 2nd pick.. not like he's a 7th round hope shot.. There must be a story there somewhere for the Oilers to to come up his name.
