Just came back. Missed the tribute. Really wanted to see it. Met Joey briefly when I was 6.

Rumour is they will have a major tribute for Joey when fans are in the building as he was a fan favourite.

Heck of a pass from Koukouk (CooCoo, CokCok, whatever). Too bad Kahun was in so tight and on his backhand.

ETA, I wasnt even close. Sorry Koekkoek, my goal for the year is to remember how to spell that without looking it up

And that thug Yams ends up getting the first penalty of the new season for the Oilers.

I don't even know who to blame for that goal because #6 was he only D in the frame. Where was the other D?

By the boxscore, Jones, need to see the replay again. That was not good defensive coverage but not sure how it developed.

Someone was eating popcorn and drifted in to join Kassian and Larsson on the left side.

Just laziness and mindlessness all around.

Looks like the popcorn eater was the Nuge

Still mainly on Larsson for the Fistric impersonation. No one on this team seems capable of reading and compensating for any teammate errors of course

I’d expect a lot more from Nuge if he’s trying to earn 7+ mil. My fear has been that by saddling him with Connor that it’ll inflate his numbers and he’ll get lured by the open market.

I didnt hate the pinch by Jones. Kassian seemed to take the right angle on the back check but didnt do anything useful.
Larsson with the headhunting fail seemed to be the biggest goat on the play but no one really played it very well.

Where were McD and Nuge? It sucks that the two guys actually trying to break up the play get blamed while the three that let the Canuck be totally free are blameless.

Fair question.
I would have to see a different angle and a longer replay but was commenting on what I saw.

Woo, Yams is all over Oil firsts this season! Great play to strip dingleberry of the puck before getting the return pass for the top-shelf tally.

I know what Adam was implying but I didnt see Bieksa. Had to go look this up on Twitter.
The side by side with Burke is pretty good.
Can confirm we do not have the same hairstyle. Doesnt mean mine is better. I got one haircut after the first lockdown and have let it flow since then.
I am getting real close to the same hockey hair style I had as a teenager

I don't even know who to blame for that goal because #6 was he only D in the frame. Where was the other D?

By the boxscore, Jones, need to see the replay again. That was not good defensive coverage but not sure how it developed.

I didnt hate the pinch by Jones. Kassian seemed to take the right angle on the back check but didnt do anything useful.
Larsson with the headhunting fail seemed to be the biggest goat on the play but no one really played it very well.

Impressive that your read on this was EXACTLY the same as Bieksa's at the intermission...

That is upsetting to hear. I dont like having the same opinion as Bieksa on anything.

Saw a pic of his new hair on twitter... sure hope you guys don’t share the same hair style too icon_biggrin

Hahahah I love it plusone!

Just took my 2 year old boy to get our second post lockdown haircuts. I generally have a bit of a beard and thought I looked like Peter Forsberg for a while. Lots of mirror time. Loved every second of it.

You should find the 1st intermission and watch it. It's uncanny the similarities between your comments and his. He says:

- didn't mind the pinch from Jones
- Kassian is tracking the puck carrier, Larsson's job is the pass
- Larsson comes over looking to land the big hit, leaving his guy wide open...

Too late. I am a 43 yr old Oil fan with 3 kids the first of which I had when I was 19. Throw in my Scottish heritage and I was driven to drink long ago.

You’ve got 11 years on me but same amount of kids. Though, my oldest is 4. I’ll join ya with the drinking. We still have to set up an Oilfans Playoff Party in Regina lol

I actually tried to find it and couldnt.
I have a whats app group chat with some Oiler fan buddies and said the same thing there this morning and they also have now commented. They are actually quite concerned that I saw it the same way as him.

For discussion sake let's pretend PlusOne is the Bieksa Oilfans burner troll account.
Do you see the play any different?

Nope - you both nailed it.

Hated Bieksa as a player and still find him a bit annoying as a result, but his analysis is solid. I grudgingly admit that he's been a good add to the panel.

Hatred of him as a player aside I have heard that about him a few times as an analyst.

Years ago I started a habit of muting intermission and getting caught up on twitter, oilfans, etc as I find that more entertaining then the talking heads.

I might have to start watching intermissions again as I also like Friedman and usually find Burke to be an entertaining grumpy old man type foil.

Agreed. I freaking hated him with a passion when he was playing, but he's a really good analyst. Even when he was still playing I think I remember him alluding to the fact that he wished some of his teammates would worry more about just playing the game rather than diving & trying to draw penalties. I disliked him a little less after he made that comment. I don't remember exactly when it was, other than that it was during a playoff series that they ended up losing (sorry, that probably doesn't really narrow it down any rofl )

I’ll watch intermissions unless I see Hrudey on. I can’t stand him. I still view Bieksa to have the Canuck stain on him, but he, and you, were spot on with that. Wood guy broke it down well too.

Nuge is often lauded for his 2 way play, but things like this seem to pop up every year (lack of defensive coverage).

I've never thought Nuge was this amazing 2 way player that some people make him out to be. Prior to paring him with McD or Leon, he was a 50 pt player who time and time again you would see him in a trail position, not tying up his man then seeing him looking skyward as his man fired in a goal. I think he is a decent 2 way player but not great. I love Nuge, I want him to stay but I never got why people made him out to be something he's not.
