Watching McDavid shifts wasting away with his wingers tossing pucks to no one and whiffing on pucks makes me sad.

That was totally embarrassing and sad watching McDavid have to try and play with two of the slowest forwards on the team, Gagner and Chaisson were in opposite time zones as McDavid all game.. hard to make plays when your wingers aren't even on the TV screen.. If McD had a speedy forechecker with hands like a Yamo, he'd make mincemeat out of defenses... When Kassian comes back he'll have some more speed and skill to work with, but he could really use an upgrade on the other wing...

Yes!!!!

Having the Drai line performing will be of utmost importance to team success but it is nice to know you can toss those two back together here and there for an almost 100% guarantee of a scoring chance.

Every team has bad games and need a jumpstart. That will be the wildcard move when it is needed.

I feel like Jones is making a case for himself to be use in OT instead of a dead tired Nurse that already played 29 minutes and can barely skate.

Maybe...

So if someone were to not work tomorrow... would you watch TSN or Sportsnet for deadline day coverage?

I’m team TSN... Bobby Mac, Dregs, Lebrun, Duthie are 1000000% better than anyone with Sportsnet not named Elliotte Friedman.

Oh buddy yea. Also, Bieksa and Kesler joining the Sportsnet crew tomorrow? No thanks.

I am switching jobs off all next week between the two. I will join you in the nonsense posting. We can be like the two old guys in the Muppets balcony, Stadler and Waldorf

I’m a government worker and I should be writing reports all day. That being said my refresh button will be going hard all day. I’ll chip in with my Johnny Two Cents.

So if someone were to not work tomorrow... would you watch TSN or Sportsnet for deadline day coverage?

I’m team TSN... Bobby Mac, Dregs, Lebrun, Duthie are 1000000% better than anyone with Sportsnet not named Elliotte Friedman.

The last few years, it's been pretty slim pickings watching deadline coverage. There's been few trades, and what does come seems all to come in a rush right at the deadline, so you'll get lots of banter about two minor league guys who have never played a game in the league, because their one-for-one deal will be the only news to report some hours.

The Oilers have been disappointing at the deadline - either relatively inactive, or selling the farm with relatively poor returns pretty much forever. I'm betting on the former tomorrow. I don't think the management team will make any big risks, and they lack the creativity necessary to get past their cap issues.

I'm really disappointed they didn't step up for Kovalchuk - Washington has the third best record in the league to the Oilers 15th. If we'd offered the same thing we would have had the better offer...and probably could have agreed to take the full salary too if needed.

Part of me thinks there was the Kovy factor in that deal as well. ie. Kovy worked with GMMB on where he’d want to go to show a little extra “love” in hopes Kovy will sign with Montreal July 1.

We can't offer our 3rd this year, it's tied up in the Looch trade :(

A 2nd for kovalchuk seems steep. This is supposed to be a really good draft.

Fair enough. I wonder if taking the full salary and giving a 4th would be comparable?

Or what you'd need to add to a 2021 3rd to make it equivalent?

I guess it doesn't matter now. We have $1.6MM cap space, so there's a limit to what we can get tomorrow unless we manage to include a roster guy (Russell? Gagner?) going the other way.

If we do nothing, I will be disappointed that we didn't at least get a guy like Kovalchuk for sure. I think next years 3rd and a 5th or something should have been enough. Or this years 4th and a long shot prospect, plus taking the salary.

Wonder what's happening with the Ennis thing. Keep hearing about it. Shouldn't be that hard to get him if we're serious. Maybe we are trying to group in Pageau :)

Word is that Ken is offering a 4th, Dorian wants a 3rd. We don’t have a 3rd.

Will likely end up being a 4th and a low prospect. Or he’ll go elsewhere.

The big thing with Ennis is the salary - or rather the lack thereof. Just $800K salary, so he'd cost something like 250K against the cap. Pageau would mean we'd need that creativity again.
