Doesn't matter how much the sharks suck I guess, they own us. Pick us apart all night in our end. Can't pick up late guys ever. Almost never take advantage of their gambler Dmen that every other team turns into pylons. Some guy named Dell is in our head.
Bleh.

2015/2016 - This Kool-Aid tastes like McDavid flavoured Drain-O.
2016/2017 - This Kool-Aid is starting to taste like juice.
2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!

That was an epic Oilers-style letdown of a game. The team needs to regroup, and fast.

Oilers had them down 2-0 early. Most teams would sag.
The Sharks are not a good team, but they are one of the teams that are not fooled by the Oilers. It’s like it motivated them instead of sagging them.

Oilers brought the intensity of a kitten
Could be leading the Pacific today if they hadn't gone into bong mode.
Defense was brutal, 77 struggling again... way too soft.. guy needs a sit down with Tippet.
McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!

First 5 minutes was awesome...
Another huge letdown. Again an almost perfect OOT that we squander. Bah.

For a giant guy, Koskinen sure can make himself small in the net. He looked bad on about 3 of those goals. First two were really nice tips, but after that...ugh.
It was a bit of a weird game. The Oilers came out flying but they just sagged. San Jose did a good job clogging the lanes and trying to slow the game down to their pace.
That diving penalty on Klefbom was ridiculous. I really hate refs who don't have the courage to call either the foul or the dive but not both. And there they just got it wrong.
First time I've ever seen a throwing the stick penalty though - I thought it was always a penalty shot.

One more thing:
19 Mikko Koskinen 31 1729 84 2.91 15 11 2 0 1 839 0.909
41 Mike Smith 28 1521 76 3.00 13 9 4 0 1 680 0.899
We need a goalie. More than any other deadline need, a real goaltender could be a difference maker for this team. This is Conklin/Markkanen/Morrison all over.

Don’t see a goalie coming in. We’re saddled with Big Mike his counterpart Iso Mikko.

Those numbers are pretty ugly - especially Mike Smith's. There's been a narrative that he's really bounced back, but the stats don't really show that.
I tend to agree - the team feels they stuck their neck out with these netminders and they've never been good at admitting their mistakes, so I doubt they make a big play for a better netminder. They should though - the chances of going deep in the playoffs with goaltending this weak is very slim. They'd have to outscore their problems consistently.

I don’t disagree. A more capable goalie could do wonders for this squad. The unfortunate thing is I don’t see Kenny making a move in season for one (barring injury) so that takes us to the summer to find a new partner for Mikko (if Smith isn’t re-upped*gulp*) and with Mikko’s cap hit and team cap situation they won’t have much room to fix this. Not to mention Smith may very well attribute to the cap next season no matter what now with his bonuses.
I foresee consistent and reliable goaltending to be an issue for this team for a couple seasons yet.

Can’t wait till we hear that Bear’s camp are asking for 8M for a long term deal. Sure, his ice time is not what Darnell’s is. But Bear has more goals on the season now with only a couple assists the total point difference.
That was a snipe, in all honesty.

It's my fault, I forgot the game was on actual TV down here, I tuned in late, it was already 2-0 and then the Sharks scored right away. I turned it off at 3-2, but it didn't seem to help.
Also, was last weekend their Stanley Cup? Peak of the season? Playing like it was.

Pissed away 2 points. No other way to say it. Came out flying in the first 10, fired in 2 goals then slammed it into neutral and coasted the rest of the game. Whole team was lousy.

I had the same thought, just like being up two, we can relax now and coast to the finish line. Last season Russel got hurt and the team went on a skid, this season same thing, come back soon Kris before it's too late !!!! Our team is so weak defensively that his experience is missed whether or not you like the guy.

There may be 8 million reasons for the stinkers the past 2 games, but the collective team seemed to lose all compete and intensity after Darnell took that stupid stick throwing penalty.

Dave isn't happy
Reid Wilkins @ReidWilkins
Couldn't make out all the language, but Tippett just expressed some serious displeasure with the team at practice. Ended his rant by kicking at some pucks and skating away.
Ryan Rishaug @TSNRyanRishaug
Tough to hear everything from the stands but Tippett just gathered the group and had what sounded like a few stern words with them about 40 minutes into practice.
He didn't get Glen to throw a stick into the stands yet, so the players might be able to slack off for 1 more game :)

GOOD!!
Not an excuse as it shouldn't happen but given the drop off of the emotion from the Calgary games and beating the Champs, the fact they were flat against the Yotes wasn't a surprise.
NO excuse to come out flat against the Sharks.

I'd be less worried about this team if they lost to the top tier teams and beat the bottom feeders. It's just all too odd.
