Woke up with a rager this morning from thoughts about this one and the importance it holds. Let’s hope the increased blood flow in Sask is enough to push the extra bit of life southeast to give the boys an extra boost tonight.

WINNING IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE!!

From the media notes, these are the on-ice officials for tonight's game in Calgary:

Referees: Francis Charron (6), Garrett Rank (7)Linesmen:Travis Toomey (90), Steve Barton (59)

Tippett said yesterday that Matt Bening won't be playing any games until January 29. I'm a fan/apologist for Benning, and look forward to his return to the lineup. I also worry about how well he will play coming off of IR. Hope he is healthy and productive down the stretch. Jones is a bit inconsistent, and I don't know if he would be as reliable as Benning as the playoff drive ramps up.

Hearing good things about Bouchard's recent play in Bakersfield, but I don't think he is "overripe" just yet.

Winning is indeed of the utmost importance.

Looks like Bouchard is paired with a born winner, descended from one of the greatest winners in NHL history (especially true if you exclude Montreal Canadiens players). Part of the overripening process? :) He was out killing penalties last night, and defending the 6 on 5 with the 1 goal lead (assist on ENG).

Poor Benning. 2 concussions back to back. I remember he came back to play a bit after the 2nd one. Really happy they are taking their time with him now. I hope it's not because he's having all kinds of issues still.

Must Win!

Koskinen getting the start? Hope this doesn’t upset papa Smithers into another downward spiral with his play.

In all seriousness, one would think Cam plays with an extra something tonight. Merp.

4-way tie for #1 in the Pacific. Winner gets to go solo (or maybe share with Vegas).

Thought that seemed fishy when I read it and indeed this is not true:

Vegas 54
Arizona 54
Edmonton 53

Wild Card:
Calgary 53
Vancouver 52
Winnipeg 52

Definitely a logjam nonetheless after Vancouver won earlier.

Games back? When did the NHL become the MLB?

I see 3 teams with 54 points and 2 with 53. One of the 54 point teams plays tonight while both 53 point teams play eachother. So there will be a team at 55 points after tonight’s games so there definitely won’t be a 5 way tie with 5 teams at 54 points

All those 5 teams being 7 games over .500 right now is still crazy. I know parity has been king in the NHL for a while, but this is pretty wild.

Fact. It’s often said within the MSM that the Pacific is the worst division in hockey, but man the race that’s on within the division makes it actually the best division in the game (my two cents).
