well, that was...something.

At least it's a win. At the end of the year, no one remembers how the points were accumulated.

Yams is here to stay. Only Oiler that can score on an EN. He's made himself indispensable.

Drai with his 16th minus game in 17 games. I know +/- is a flawed stat, but I think it's actually showing something right now. 17:49 of ice time for Drai tonight. Should keep that going for a while and see what happens.

You knew Smith wasn’t coming in. We are Koski or bust these days.

Is that what was happening? The Oilers were trying to get Smith his 125k bonus?

Or maybe Smith spiked everyone's water bottles in the 2nd intermission to give himself a shot to play #20. All our players were playing with diarrhea in their pants in the 3rd?

This embarrassment should inspire ZERO confidence going into the Eastern road trip.

Yamamoto is not the answer to anything... in spite of his late goal. icon_rolleyes

...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Not just any goal. And EN goal. Basically a unicorn by Oilers standards. I personally feel the winds of change coming from Yams.

I was laughing about the "one-goal wins" stat they threw out late in the game. Of course the Oilers are near the top of the league there...everyone else scores in to empty nets and just puts games away.

2 goals for, and 8 goals against with goalies pulled this year.

That first period was possibly the best period of hockey we've played since the Anaheim game in the play-off's a couple of years back. The rot set in the second period rather than the third. We allowed them to buzz around the net for most of that period and took our chances to make it 6-0, then allowed a goal right at the death. I wasn't feeling 100% safe even at 6-0/6-1.

What they need to do now, is go one this 5 game road trip come back with at least 2 wins, and keep going.

I thought it was games started for Smith? Didn't think relief appearances counted...

EDIT: Ugh - no. It's games played, and he's already got 20. Quarter million more if he gets to 25. I would be looking hard at the waiver wire for alternatives.

Sadly, it's only games played from what I can see.

I guess that's protection for the player. If it was only by starts and we wanted to screw him, we could just play Koskinen at the start of games and toss him in right after :)

And you know what. He's already at 20 because of the Flames game. Doh. I wasn't paying attention, didn't even know he played in that one :) 125k earned. Next 125k at 25.

Yep - he celebrated his $125K bonus with a solid .857 save percentage in that one.

Any word on Klefbom? I didn’t realize he was playing on a foot with two fractured toes. Hopefully it was just a bad stinger and he won’t miss any action.

Didn't last year's Klefbom injury add a couple feet of dirt to last year's grave? Too bad he's brittle.

You are 100% correct.

Klefbom is far and away easily our third best player. He is grossly underpaid, one of the best deals of the league. Except he gets injured.

Klefbom is our defensive leader. Kr55 calls him our babysitter. It was not coincidence that the collapse to the Rangers coincided with Klefbom's injury. Shook up all the pairings to lose babysitter. The rest of the d should be ashamed for folding over losing one player. Such is the Oilers and their problem with depth. If Klefbom's down the Oiler's season is done.

Any team would jump at the chance to employ Oscar. Except he gets injured.
