No way, scouts need to work even harder. We're in the hunt, but need the help that only selling the future can buy!

Koskinen locked it down, nice to see.
Ok, let's try this again. Try to play 2 at least decent games in a row.

I for one never doubted this team
You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Who would have any reason to doubt in the first place?

2017/2018 - I'm drinking this Kool-Aid, in hopes that it's Drain-O.
2018/2019 - Another round of Drain-O, good sir!

Wait a second... There were only 2 votes for the Oilers making the playoffs in the poll and one was shoop.

Games on delay here so I've got to wait another 2 hours before I watch it. Checked the score and the scorers 3 times before actually believing it. I'll see for myself in a bit, but how bad must Buffalo be to allow Lucic to score 2 goals..
Take me home, country road
to the place where I belong

First time all season that the Oilers had 3 goals where none of the Big 3 had a point on them.
That outburst by Kassian and Lucic has the team down to only 79% of offence generated by the top dogs, and 86% in the Hitchcock era.

Puck luck was big in that game and Koskinen with 41 saves. Oilers managed a lot of goals but he saved a lot of goals too. He's my first star. Nice to see the team get to feel good about themselves. Lucic was a real force besides scoring a couple.

Buffalo seems to be going full Eakins. We owned the front of their net, and they just shot crap from anywhere

That's good, I hope Buffalo gets lost in the Eakins zone for as long as possible. They have had a flukey season so far. Played pretty crappy for the majority of the year, really have no business being a >.500 team still.

I had a pretty gnarly picture in my mind reading/singing this. Bravo. Definitely don’t need the scouts on this one.

I thought watching the game that yes Buffalo had way more shots but Oilers were taking them from way better spots. Based on that chart, looks like what I thought was correct. Oilers shots were all clustered in higher scoring areas. Buffalo had a ton from the sides. If I was a coach, while you want to cut down on the shots to some degree, I am OK to give up shots from the side boards all day long.

I attended this one.
Every single thing about this game was weird. 2 goals from Kassian (!), two goals from Lucic (!!!!), not the greatest of nights from McDavid (though still owned some shifts and had 2 points), and were outshot 43-25 and won 7-2. Bunch of goals in the first five minutes, including a few that were really bad. Sloppy hockey. Oilers didn't play all that well, but pummelled a team with more points.
Koskinen settled in well after a shaky start.
Weird game, but lots to cheer, and fun to watch.

Well a late watch on PVR, these kind of scores are so few, it's sad.
Shaky 1st period, top line hemmed in. Koskinen looked a bit shaky early but locked it down. The usual handful of d-zone turnovers and the Sabres had some good looks at different points in the game, but the Oilers got the stops. Ice looked fairly crappy to me tonight.
Not much help from the zebras, that hasn't changed.
At the other end, the Oilers got some breaks and made some too. They were on the right side of shooting % for once getting opportunities and capitalizing. .
Nice to see Kass and Lucic with 2 each. I thought Khara was strong as well. Is it just me or did anyone else think that Kassian should have been left where he was instead of the in game blender stuff? I just think sometimes the blender gets overbought and not a hell of a lot of benefit comes from the meddling.
Anyway, a rare feel-good game. More please.

A good game for the Oilers. Never a good thing to give up a goal in the first minute on the first shot from not a good spot. It was apparently tipped but still, not a good goal. What I liked is they came back immediately with a response. After the first goal, Koskinen settled down and was really good. It's amazing what the Oilers can do when they get decent goaltending.
Great to see Kassian get a few goals, they need guys like him chipping in.
McDavid didn't look explosive but managed 2 points. The guy has the flu so he gets a pass. Nice that it was a blow out so he could get rested.
Jones - Larsson were real good after a couple tough games.
Nurse- Russell had a rough start but settled down and were solid.
Manning had an OK game. Benning again up and down. His passing sometimes is god awful.
Lucic was great. Hitch said he has been really good for 5 games now and I agree. It's great to see him get a couple of goals and GOOD goals. You can see it on his face how much of a relief it is to get some goals. He will never live up to the contract but if he could give the team a few goals down the stretch, that would be huge for him and the team.
Interesting to hear Hitch mention it and I read in Spec's article from last night Lucis hears it and how the fans chanting for him even when it's just him making a normal play is being heard by him and helping him. He feels like the fans have his back. His contract sucks, it will always suck, it will probably be one of those contracts that get listed as one of the worst for a long time. But continuously driving the guy down doesn't make it any better. If he can get some confidence and feel the fans are pulling for him rather than wishing he fail and he can give the team some production that would help things big time.
