WTH, just turned it on and it's 1-0 for the good guys. :)

(apparently the acronym that goes between WTE and WTG is not allowed)

Yeah there’s quite a bit of bubble wrap outside the OT forum. ;)

Minor cussing like chit should be allowed in reviews at least.

Fast puck moving PP ties it up.

Outside of 2 or 3 shifts that was a tough period and I couldnt be happier coming out of it with a tie score.
A couple of fantastic defensive plays (Larsson's at the top) and a number of key stops have kept the team in it, hopefully a better second is ahead.

Why did they just dump and chase on a PP?

Poolparty with a all-world move on one end then hands the puck to Kuch for a breakaway goal.

Yep, Overall I thought it was a much more even period until that last 90 seconds or so. Real momentum killer on the JP gaffe and then a lot of puck watching on the next one/

Oh well, it might be the whiskey consumed at my first Christmas dinner at the season but after 36 mins or so I do have some hope the Oilers can pull this one off.

Not sure why Nurse had to Yakupov that pass to Pulju 15 feet away. And then just stands tehre as Kucherov is jumping behind Pulju before he even loses it. Kucherov knew that pass was too hot.

For sure. I wasnt putting 100% on JP. He could have done better but it was just not a good play overall.
Your comment is true of Nurse and I find that true on a lot of goals against. Too many times the guys are flat footed and not moving/prepared to move.
If everything goes as planned it is just fine but as soon as something goes sideways they arent prepared to react and defend. I really like Nurse but he is guilty of this a lot. Once he is stationary he is rarely pro-actively moving with anticipation of where he needs to be next.

Extra hard tonight for Nurse too, because Kucherov is showing us zero respect. He is burning our D cheating for breakaways all night. I'm really doubting that we make him pay for it at any point in this game.

So badly need some of our D back. We had some good games after Klef and Russell went down. But, lately, it's been exactly what we all feared. The puck movement is painfully weak, and guys are just getting overwhelmed with responsibility.

Yep, this was pretty predictable. Maybe it is why I am still in a positive mood though, given it is only a one goal deficit.
I dont know if there is a team the Oilers match up worse with in the league than TB, especially with the D that are out.
I think they are the deepest overall team in the league and it is showing right now.

Not that I don't think there was a foul on Kuch, but we've seen a million times worse against McDavid this year with no call.

Ugh. Our 1st pair is an average 2nd pair. Nurse has his riverboat gambler hat on tonight.

Yep.
Larsson had a couple top end plays in the first but has struggled since then. On the 2 on 1 he basically stared at the puck from the zone entry to the pass to the rebound, all the while doing nothing about it.
Didnt take away the shot or the pass but hung out in no mans land.

I cant remember the thread but I was discussing how every single oiler is playing one spot, one pairing and in some cases a full league above their abilities. A team like TB demonstrates why this group isnt one to be good enough for this team to be taken seriously.

As I type this they stood around to watch the Lightnings 5th goal.

Too many weak links to match up with this fast team, especially down a couple of D men.

Stamkos and Co just clowned the Oil on that goal. When you let him just walk in on the give-and-go like that, you deserve to be scored on. That should pretty much do it for this game. Maybe they will achieve that moral victory at least.

No moral victories to be had in this one. Also not that upsetting.
The showed who they are and so did the Oilers.

....seems like every time the Oilers have a decent chance to score, TB comes back down the ice and puts one behind Koskinen...not putting this one on Koskinen in any way, shape or form, but the Oilers just can't keep up with Tampa Bay on the transition at all....

holy crap. How can we get scored on within 10 seconds of every goalie pull?

Any time the other team pulls they are in our zone for the rest of the game until it's over or they score.
