That Jones kid does have a nice slapper on him.

Jones is starting to impress me with his defensive play. Case in point: on a sequence, he was headed to the corner left of Koski, but backpedalled immediately because he realized that the Dys player in that corner was going to pass it to a teammate coming down the slot. He wound up intercepting that pass attempt as a result.

When did Poolparty become such a thug? I like it, but it’s weird to see...

Hitch still has some work to do, if Benning missing the puck and leaving Lucic to play D is anything to go by. Mind the difference is that we'd have conceded a goal with Todd in charge on that play.

At first I thought that was Benning, and I thought, wow, kid is learning, usually he would chase the guy into the corner and leave the man behind him open.
Then was corrected that it was Jones...
Yeah, Benning still would have chased that guy into the corner :)

Gravel gets a delay of game penalty for puck over the glass, because he was being hooked by a Canuck. I don't complain much but it feels like the fix is in.

The holding call on Jones was also pure horse$@$@.

Two bad calls and two goals against.... That wasn't our finest period of hockey though, they looked like they came out a little bit faster than we did and our passing and puck control left a lot to be desired. We need to stay out of the box and improve in this third. That was the most Todd like period we've had since Hitch arrived.

Worth noting - if Talbot let in that second goal, there would have been a lot of consternation around it.

That's what happens when you've used up all the good will you've earned previously. His heroics from 2016-17 are now the past and people are going to call him for any little mistake. I don't think that's totally fair and it can effect the player.
Lots of similar comments I'm seeing all over the place about that second goal though.

Well, that penalty wasn’t a bad call. Suddenly, the Oil PK has become dog$&&) because Koski is having an off night.

One bright spot in an otherwise disappointing game is Jones who's really showing signs of being ready to stay with the Oilers when everyone is healthy. A very mature performance tonight.

Kozari crap aside. This is an overall bad game by the Oilers.

Other team has EN, usually a solid 1.5 mins or more of pressure in our zone.
Oilers have EN, usually automatic goal for the other team in 20 seconds or so.
Hope that changes one day

Didn't have deep puck possession or the top two d-men on the ice either. Why pull at that time? Bad decision. Get a faceoff for crying out loud. Put your good guys on the ice. Create pressure. Don't just give the puck away on a crappy shovel attempt and give up the middle of the ice too. Vintage.
