Jackets re-sign 34-year-old Coyle for 36M over 6 years. That cap boost is already reshaping what a veteran deal will look like. I would love a Coyle-type player in Edmonton, but not for that term.

This off-season will be a mess .... again.

The wisdom of players that signed short term this last year is definitely going to show. 8.5M cap boost this year. Expected another 9.5M boost the next year.

I just hope we don't have a GM that spends it all our extra cap space on useless players again on long term deals to stack our buyout list again. As much as it's going up, it can still go fast with 2 or 3 bad contracts.

A guy like Dickinson is not coming cheap at short term.. looks like our cap space would be vaourized just trying to sign the UFAs we have.. which only gets you a roster that failed this past season..

Going to be a nervous summer.. I don't have much trust in the GM and his scouting staff.
