The NHL has decided to change the penalty assessed to the Sens for not informing Vegas of the no-trade obligations on Dadonov. See below:

The NHL is so bush league about this stuff. They assign a penalty for an action, and then they just randomly change it years later. The Sens might have let the pick go two years ago - instead they out-last the league and now get the pick back. We've seen this before - the Devils got hammered for trying to bend the rules on Kovalchuk, they waited long enough and the league blinked there too. I'm pretty sure there's another recent example I'm forgetting.

It was a harsh penalty when it was doled out, but man - have some level of conviction when you put your foot down.

They must feel like they flexed their muscles enough giving us the max penalty for hiring 2 fired guys in a tiny period of time when very temporary rule existed against hiring fired guys too early.

Or by ruling that the only thing that could be prorated during the Covid-shortened season was the number of points from James Neal.

lol, another classic.

And didn't sound like we lobbied hard against any of these things.

And of course we have really reaped the rewards for our good, never complain, behavior since!

The NHL just makes s##t up as it suits their favorite franchises. Complete farce.
Especially to Oiler rulings.. they are always at the extremes of past precedence.. or they set new precedence .. applies to everything .. trades, GM hiring, suspensions.. expect maybe a worst case a 2 game suspension based on similar incidents.. get 7.. comical
