We are so back.

Extend Lazar and Mangy Pangy NOW.

If there is anyone remaining on this team without an NMC, change that NOW.

Goals goals and more goals.

Not feeling sorry for themselves after that Minny loss is good to see.

I can't get used to seeing teams like Utah and San Jose in playoff spots ahead of us. Hopefully can get another win vs the Jets to fix that.

Nice to see McDavid firing on all cyclinders again.. he was on fire.. he looked happy.. he plays better when he's mentally loose.. this will help.

Also nice to see Savoie getting 2 goals and could have been a hatty as well.. he's progressing.. also noticed stauff saying on the intermission that Bowman will be getting a bridge deal done with Savoie.. no Holloway and Broberg situation.

Fred still stunk

I really hope Clattberg idsOK.. got a stick in the eye.. looked bad. 🀞🏻

Frederic was legitimately terrible. I remember a sequence in the game where he took a pass at our blue line on a breakout, and then skated the puck back into our zone with only one guy pressuring him... second guy comes in and they easily strip, and Seattle pressed in the zone after. What was he doing there? Why did he come back into our zone and give the puck away? That guy needs to screw his head on straight; he looks awwwwful so far.

Can we not just sit him and bring Howard back? Or give Clattenberg his minutes, assuming he's not blind by now?

Fun game to watch, but definitely don't love some of the conclusions the Oilers broadcast team was coming up with. Jack blathered on about how the Oilers schedule for the first two months was the real culprit for why we find ourselves out of a playoff spot, and from the way he makes it sound, home games just kind of win themselves I guess. We have some lengthy homestands in the second half, so it's almost like a guarantee that we roll.

Also some talk early about Skinner's bounceback after the Dallas game and how good he's been in the two games since. Rishaug also beating that drum yesterday. Here's hoping the rosy analysis stops at the talking heads and that the actual management of the team isn't swayed by a couple games without getting lit up, or a game where we blow out an opponent.

Knoblauch said he had stitches above his eye. Hopefully it was just a near miss. The only thing I miss about the decade of darkness was seeing guys like him getting a chance to play in the NHL.

We should do a lot more of it, to be honest. It's a lack of understanding of where to spend cap space when you're overpaying for fourth liners because they're older guys who can PK. Better off getting younger players in those spots, and teaching them what they need to know. It's not like the Oilers are just rolling four lines most games anyhow, so having younger, cheaper players with upside as your depth helps in a number of ways. They're developing playing in the best league, they're leaving more development room available for the next tier on the farm, they often are better offensively than the specialists the Oilers prefer (did you hear it was over 40 games since Janmark's last regular season goal?) so better able to move up the lineup if needed. And they're cheaper which means you can spend more money elsewhere in the lineup - like a goalie for instance.

The team has Frederic at $3.85MM, Henrique at $3MM, Janmark at $1.45MM...Clattenburg is $828K. Howard is $950K. Quinn Hutson is $875K. Jarventie is $775K. The savings there is definitely enough to upgrade on goalie...

Vegas is a great example. Dorofeyev got a chance early and he's developed into a legit NHL'er and now they have undrafted Braeden Bowman who I had never heard of scoring at almost a ppg pace. Agreed that Cup teams need youth and ELC deals sprinkled throughout the lineup if you want a balanced team. Cheap vets are a crapshoot. The league is getting faster and when the wheels fall off a vet it is not usually a gradual process.

Janmark is our throwback to yesteryear. A modern day Tobey Petersen, but somehow secured a multi-year deal.

How many times have we done this dance? Start poorly with goaltending playing a major role in handicapping the start of our seasons. Finally get a hot run around December. Ups and down through the year still leading to guys having to go all out for a decent playoff position, sometimes ending up injured just in time for playoffs. Goaltending proceeds to bite us in the rear again when it matters most in playoffs.

Oilers media gang always so eager to cheer for status quo in net. They really never want to see this team win a cup. Skinner getting his rare hot run should be only seen as an opportunity to sell to finally upgrade that position.

I remember that sequence .. just shook my head.. perfect example and summary of his game right now.. tried to skate away from trouble.. except he's too slow, and puck handling ability is too weak..

I keep looking for occasional bright spots to provde some level of optimism he'll improve but I've seen nothing so far, Lazar might even be better.
