Pickard makes the saves Stu can't.. all the reaction saves are something Stu can't do.. too plodding.. especially with a chaos defence like we have.. you need to react .. quick.. Pickard can do that.

Connor Brown should keep them back after practice and make them work on it.

Crazy game. Lots of chaos and mistakes by both teams. Lots of fun though.
Pickard had to make some huge saves. What a run for him to close the series.
LA might need to lobby to get the playoff matchup format changed.
Team showed a lot of guts in this series. Hope we are ready to take down Vegas and the refs in round 2!!
Come back to us soon Ek!

Try not to think about what might have been if the Oilers had realised what a bad idea this is back in 2023.

One La Bamba, two la bamba, three la bamba, four. Four la bamba's make a series win and here's to many more...
For a team who had fought all year for home ice advantage, who took a 2 game lead there wasn't a huge lot of emotion being shown at the end there by the Kings. It was almost as if they knew they'd be beaten no matter what they did before game 1.
Picks isn't the sweetest looking minder, but if he can carry on doing whatever he's doing for the rest of the final's...

Team win there.
After 2 didn’t think we’d win in 6. Resilient, and team continues to close out on first chance they get.
Looking forward to some vengeance on the Knights.

I think Nurse may have "saved" a goal late in the game. It's right after the HUGE save that Pickard made on Clarke with about 3:30 left in the game. If you break down the play frame by frame, after Pickard makes the save, you can see the puck approaching the goalline close to the centre of the net. Suddenly Nurse dives over top and the next time you can clearly see the puck it's back over near Clarke going back out the other way off of Nurse's hand. I can't see anything that would've made the puck go back in the other direction before Nurse swats it away except for Nurse's hand itself. And, if you follow Nurse's hand, it clearly goes in the net while it's moving from the center to where you see the puck again over by Clarke. I wouldn't say it's conclusive, but... we may have gotten a break on that one.

Yeah that was crazy. Nurse definitely not afraid to go all in on plays like that. Also Klingberg saved a goal when the ref was holding off calling the play with Pickard totally ran over and laying flat on the ice with his glove off. That one would have burned if it went in. Wonder if we would have got it called off at least for coincidental contact. Somehow feeling doubtful.

Chaos might be an understatement. Not sure who to blame in that pair, but it's like putting your tongue on a 9 volt battery. You know it's going to be bad, but for some reason you still do it.

13 different goal scorers. 11 different forwards lit the lamp. Pickard was good enough. Play La Bamba and bring on Vegas.

Looking at the pairing and ice time, just no choice with the unwillingness to play Emberson.
Bouch was Nurse's 3rd most common partner last night, with Kulak and Klingberg the most. But those those 5 minutes of Nurse+Bouch really stand out :)
Although, most of that Nurse+Bouch chaos was near the start of the game, so I guess you can't just pass it off as being done because guys are tired. It may be once again, trying to force it, then the coaching staff gets burned again for doing it, then we spend the rest of the game trying to avoid it. If that's the case, the coaches need to stop being so stubborn.

Almost like a bad marriage and they are trying to stick it out for the kids. Just break up, because you are messing up the rest of the family. Sometimes people are just better being apart.

Nurse definitely got away with one there. Clarke was incensed, but the refs had put the whistle away by that point.
I thought covering the puck in the crease is a penalty shot too so was surprised Klingberg was able to get away with that...although it's incredible that Edmundson didn't get a goalie interference call ahead of that. There's no chance it counts if the Kings score there given that hit, and it's comical that they didn't call it, given the penalty on Arvidsson earlier in the game.
It was funny, someone I know had a parley on Bouchard scoring a point and in the group chat towards the end of the second, someone said "he'll probably get one on the Oilers next powerplay" and I just knew that we were never going to get another powerplay unless that game went to overtime, no matter what the Kings did. Including a full-on tackle of the goalie apparently...

Gregor already tweeted that there's no chance of an Ekholm return in Round 2.
I do hope Emberson gains a little more of the coach's trust here. It would be helpful to have less 2/25. For whatever reason, that just isn't working well (although I don't blame them at all on the 2nd goal...that one is all Pickard.)
Top line needs to be way better next game. They were very sloppy last night. Walman had some huge gaffes too. It all worked out though and was nice that we were able to win a game without the big guys having a superstar performance.

I've seen it stated that it's only a penalty if it's covered by the hands. Everything else is fair game. However, I can't find this in the rules. There are, however, other rules that seem to dispute this.
a) 63.2 states you can get a minor penalty for trying to freeze the puck anywhere with anything, including the goalie if he's outside the crease. That NEVER gets called.
b) 63.6 calls for a penalty shot and states that "No defending player, except the goalkeeper, will be permitted to fall on the puck, hold the puck, pick up the puck, or gather the puck into the body or hands when the puck is within the goal crease."
c) 67.4 is basically a rewording of 63.6.
After reading a portion of the rulebook, I'm convinced that none of the NHL refs have also read the full rulebook.

I know nothing about hockey, I thought the team was out and dead, not the same team but they come back and win 4 straight?
Like.. I thought I knew a little something about a little something, but it turns out I'm just some pleb who thinks he's seen it all when I haven't seen nothing yet.
At not point in last night game did I sit back and and say, the team is in trouble. There were a few missteps but I reconsidered my view saying, they aren't player too bad right now.
Onto Vegas, where they are the playoff dragon to the Oilers. Ir's going to be a touch series... but then again, what the heck do I know?
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

Many predicted a 1st round exit after the game 2 loss.
I predicted it prior to game 1.
I guess I overlook the depth on this team. And not expecting Klingberg to be a second pairing eating big minutes. Brown driving the Henrique/Fredric line. There is Pisani dust floating around that room.
This could be fun.

LA also had a lead with 7 minutes to go in game 3, to take a 3-0 series lead.
Then we get a goal off some crazy bounces around the net. Then Hiller decides that he wasn't impressed by how his team was able to score on us seemingly at will any time the game was tied, so he tried a super low % challenge. We burned him almost immediately with a PP goal on a play we have never seen this team do before.
And then AGAIN they have a lead with 30 seconds left to go up 3-1, and Byfield makes a horrible play instead of just chipping the puck down the ice. We finally took over the series from then on and that was partly because hiller played his top 13 skaters into the ground and they were running out of gas.
It was a crazy series. We played with fire as much as a team can without losing with bad goaltending and questionable efforts. One thing for sure, we need to be better from the start of the series in round 2.

So, full disclosure, I didn't watch a minute of this series after the mess that was game 1, especially with that GWG. After 3 years against the Kings, I just couldn't deal with them, so instead I monitored the rest via ESPN's gamecast in real time.
Happy that they won, but with 4 straight wins to close it out, I guess I'll have to keep this up for at least the first game vs. Vegas.
