Ppl say Jeff Skinner is an offense only player. He saved a certain goal there by tying up that stick.

Great defensive play there for sure. Did he steal all the defensive abilities of our first line players? Those guys are making some ridiculously dumb plays in our own zone.

If the media, and some fans, drive Bouchard out of Edmonton I'm going to be livid. The guy makes a couple mistakes but he does things one the ice that MAYBE ten other defenceman in the league can do.
The ratio of good to bad is worth every time and I can't believe that some think he is the problem. I can ignore a couple defensive gaffes to gain the dozen or so special plays he makes per game.

Depends on what you mean by worth more. Worth more than what Nurse is paid, no but close. Worth more than what market value is for Nurse, yes.
I am not one who hates Nurse but he is overpaid. Bouchard is a rare talent, the puck moving, offensive RHD that every team wishes they had.

Impressive defensive effort so far. Stu has only really been tested a couple of times & he came up big on both.

Still wish they'd run 97 & 29 on different lines...

Bouch has regressed from last year. Less physical in his own zone. Zero goals on the PP. Anyone can do that. His defensive lapses usually result in one or two zone breakaways.
...he's certainly a polarizing player. I guess he's certainly not horrible, but I can think of 4 other D on the team I would want defending late in a 1 goal game. Maybe 5, but I haven't seen Klingberg enough. icon_nod

...gotta agree with that one. On the same line lets the opposition only have to shut down 1 line. If they are separated... Two lines, each having a world class centre, is a whole different problem. And then Nuge doesn't have to drive a second line. He can offer matchup problems against weaker competition as a 3C.

Nobby is really saying this team doesn't have the depth to support 29/97 on their individual lines. And he might be right, based on the ineffectiveness of 53 and 33 who were brought in to score goals.

That said, nothing would be wrong with starting 97/29 apart and then panicking in the 3rd if need be.

Cheesy call to gift the Blues a PPG. Ek is supposed to just let Schenn go free into our zone if he touched that puck? Went a millimetre away from touching his stick and schenn was 100% trying to play it.

There's an awful lot of Oilers fans who are just dreadful at assessing defencemen. They only remember a couple bad plays and have super-selective memories - remembering more the mistakes of the players that they don't like (usually the offensive defencemen) and immediately forgetting the mistakes of the ones they do like (usually the physical guy who does nothing else of use).

NHL refs are just so awful - that call so clearly had nothing to do with the play itself and everything to do with the fact that the Oilers just had a PP. I will never stop being amazed at how terrible these guys are at their jobs.

...but more to the point. Are u disagreeing that Bouch has regressed from his playoff form of last year? And that u would have him on the ice in the last minute of a one goal game? Its OK to think that. Personally, I have said that he is not a horrible player. Just one who I would question being worth 10M or more dollars. But the market is the market... like it or not.

How many games is this that we've completely outplayed our opponent yet are behind?

Not blaming Stu for one second - we'd be further behind if it weren't for him, but our shooters gotta quit missing the net.

Too many. It's sickening. Binnington isn't good either this year. No reason we shouldn't have more than one friggin lousy goal

Yeah it's crazy the criticism he receives compared to someone like Arvidson who is just quietly becoming a massive bust and horrible example of asset management.

Every single ounce of offense on this team comes from two forwards. Maybe they can trade Arvidson and Skinner for Holloway and Broberg??

lol as I type this 97 to 29 goal. Who else.
