I guess the Connor speculation starts now.
Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.

LOL... that pity goal at the end. I appreciate the try from the team, but holy lord are these guys in trouble against quick squads.
Skinner needs to be monumentally better.

Christmas wish list (entirely improbable or impossible, but still gonna ask)...
1 - Bowman GONE, never shoulda been here, cursed GM
2 - Starter goalie better than Skinner... he had a heck of a run last season, but that's over and not coming back
3 - Nurse contract gone (sorry kid, just business, might be what costs us a Cup)
4 - Broberg and Holloway back, should have been signed before our old plodding vets were, major L for Holland, JJ, and Bowman collectively
5 - magic healing faerie dust for Connor's leg
I might just skip all no Connor games, very likely we don't win a single one until something improves.

"Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch told reporters tonight that Connor McDavid is going back to Edmonton for further testing on his lower body injury. "
We. Are. Cooked.
This is not a roster that picks itself up.

Seems like it. Definitely has a bad karma feel to it.
Realistically though, the team composition is a mess. We have no team identity... we're not physical, we're not fast, we're not a lethal scoring unit nor are we a fortress that is difficult to penetrate. We're none of those archetypes.
If you're not fast, you'd better be physical... and if you don't have a good transition game due to speed or a lethal offense, you'd better be airtight on D.
I know I'm being an armchair GM here, but I swear that even I could do a better job of putting a team together than this.
The last thing I'm going to say tonight... is that someone is going to have to talk tough with Zach. The guy is beyond a bum this season. It's completely unacceptable to have played with McDavid for 9 games and to have 1 point on the season. That's almost impossible.

I mean we already know and saw it today in peak form.
Not Skinner, not Nurse, not Ekholm (as good as he is), not Hyman, not Nuge, not Perry. Not even Draisatl. None are the carry the team on their back type.
How did we go from youngest fastest team with all the potential to the oldest slowest with nothing in the cupboard, and it was all in the blink of an eye. It’s like some Twilight Zone episode.
Illegitimi non carborundum.

Lol Ken Holland must have loved the Stan Bowman hiring.
Somehow fans in Edmonton are blaming the guy who arrived at the scene of the tire fire when it was already ablaze while ignoring the guy who started it and watched it burn for the last 5 years.
Holland inherited 97 and 29 in their primes on absolute bargain contracts and 2 on entry level. He signed Nurse to the worst contract in NHL history that hamstrung the team. Signed Cambell, Athenaseau trade etc etc. He made 1 good move in 5 years - the 14 acquisition that he stumbled into after failing to land Chychrun.
And to top it off, on his way out the door he colude...I mean golfed with a rival GM to hand over 2 of the teams best young players.
Granted part of that is on Jackson for not firing his ass once it became clear he wasn't going to be re-signed instead of letting him sabotage the team on the way out. Maybe he didn't have the go ahead from greasy old Katz who knows.
With a competent GM we would be talking about multiple cups at this point not looking for the first.
But yeah Stan Bowman is the problem

Holland sucking is well documented. That last finals run was totally undeserved for him personally, but Jackson made some changes that made the stars align just enough for McDavid and a handful of Oilers to drag that team as far as it could go. And of course Jackson then goes hog wild in the summer to make sure we know that was kind of a fluke too.
Bowman hasn't done a thing though, and his history doesn't suggest he will do much either. And if you do believe in karma, McDavid being taken out is the icing on the cake of hiring Bowman.

I'm just not sure the team can pull up from it's nose dive.
As it was said before this team has no identity and with CMcD gone, they are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

Holland/JJ/Bowman all collectively suck.
Holland did some good things over his tenure but also didn’t do some things that are biting us in the ass now.
JJ had some interesting moves but didn’t lock down Broberg and Holloway when he could have. Holloway atleast wanted to be here. Instead he focused on aging vets who maybe are one season away from the cliff.
Bowman has yet to do anything useful and was in watch when the offer sheets came. Maybe even was the reason we got offer sheeted.
Illegitimi non carborundum.
