Sigh, 11pm start time again? I'd hoped it'd be back to our normal game times back at home. Ah well...hopefully this is the last one I have to stay up for for a few days at least.

This is a good game for McLeod to contribute offensive and the vet Perry to bang home a suspect goal as the winner.

Hey LA. Please don't injure my star players in frustration for yet another post season loss. Thanks!

I get a sick feeling any time Lizotte or Anderson are on the ice. Filthy. I don’t know how you can all in the same players union while having guys like that literally trying to end the careers of other potential NHLPA members.

If you hurt someone accidentally or within the scope of the rules it’s understandable, but the vicious low bridges or checks from behind are borderline criminal offences. This isn’t just an Oilers take. I hate seeing that crap against any player on any team.

I've got a bad feeling about tonight's game again. This LA team is better than they have been playing. Desperation will get them tonight's win.

I hope I'm wrong.

I have a feeling the Oilers are going to pump them tonight.

I don't know if the Kings can play any better than they did last game and they still lost. I can't imagine they are feeling overly confident.

The Oilers at least to me, look like a different team to me and look like they can beat the Kings anyway they want.
- If the Kings want to trade chances and goals, they can do that.
- If the Kings want to take a lot of penalties, their PP will destroy them.
- If the Kings want to take it to the alley, well the Oilers have enough guys who can take it to the alley and they won't back down.
- If the Kings want to play defense, the Oilers can too. The Kings got a lot of shots last game but the Oilers defended the middle of the ice very well. kept them to the flanks and didn't give the Kings a lot of good scoring chances.

Canucks play Friday. Which in theory means the earliest round 2 would start is Sunday.

This is a real important game for this series, but moreso for the next. A win, and they get at least 3 nights rest in their own bed before another grueling round.

FINISH THEM

I have a feeling that your comment will trigger an emotion.

I think it is pretty normal to have a bad feeling, or doubt with tonight's performance. It is not life and death, but our fan base has experienced a lot of trauma in the past 20+ years. I do not share NetBOG's fear, but I understand where his brain is at.

We need a Tampa Bay run of excellence to overcome our biases, and even then long time fans will probably still struggle with adversity. NHL teams move enough players to keep the dressing room toxic free, but unfortunately loyal fan bases do not give each other the luxury of fresh starts.

I am sure you are right but I don't get it.

Were they bad for a long time? Sure they were.
Did it suck? You bet it did. I am in my 40's, I know all about the bad years. I watched a lot of bad Oilers teams.

But when do fans get over it? Do some of you guys still mope about your highschool girlfriend who dumped you decades ago even though you have a great home life and family? The Oilers are a good team, they have been for a while now. Why not show a little confidence and positivity in your team
and enjoy it vs assuming the worst because 20 yrs ago, they lost a certain game. Some of you guys need to let some things go, seriously.

I feel pretty good about this game. While the late starts are tough on our east coast Oilfriends, they're perfect for us mountain time zone folk to get all of our weeknight tasks and chores done before really settling in to watch the game. Yes, we'll be bleary eyed and confused tomorrow morning but that's a tomorrow problem. Today we're going to have a snack and a beer and watch some hockey.

And it's pressure free. Even if they lose it just means we get some Friday night hockey.

That's the thing with trauma and you do not need to get it, but we need to have some empathy. For some of us, our investment in this team is unhealthy and the wins and losses impact us more than others. I am one of these people and I realize it is stupid and I have zero control of the outcome, but here I sit on my keyboard wearing my McDavid jersey and Oilers hat, with nervousness mixed with excitement for tonight and the rest of these playoffs. Everyone get's over it on their own time. Just because one person can move on, does not mean the next can. I never experienced a playoff game for the entirety of 30's. I am now 48, and i think I am just coming out of my funk, but whenever we make a move that looks sketchy I fall back into my past thoughts of "here we go again".

The imminent contracts expirations of Draisaitl and McDavid also impact many of us. As far removed we are from the decade plus of darkness, it is easy to see us being bottom dwellers again. Telling someone to "let it go" is like telling your significant other "are you still mad?". The response from such a comment will likely face a lot of backlash from the people who are working through where you already have got too. Your ability to navigate this team's struggles is the way you cope. It might be the best and smartest way to move forward, but it does not mean others will or have to follow suit. I enjoy your takes. I do not agree with you on all things, but I take it with a grain of salt. I also know as soon as you respond in a certain manner I know you are going to get a lot of flack. Too be honest I enjoy the chaos you bring to the forum. For the most part I just eat popcorn and wait for the explosion.

Go Oilers Go! Just win baby and let the Mustiness fly and hopefully this is the year I get bust open some really nice Rum's I have been saving for a Stanley Cup summer!

Living in CST, I love the 8pm starts. My house has settled down and there are no distractions. My heart goes out to our loyal Oilfans out East and from different countries. I was in Halifax last summer and it was so weird that I was getting for bed and the Jays vs Seattle was just starting. I could not imagine that being my every day reality.

Totally unrelated, but I had a thought about this a week ago and immediately forgot about it. The Phoenix move to Salt Lake might, on its own, be generate enough of a revenue increase to give the Oilers cap space to keep Drai.

Noticed how the Canucks really seem to rely on a long cross ice pass to a trailer for their offensive game plan. Nashville picked up on it a couple games in and it has really suppressed the Canucks offense.

Last 2 games could do very little until Nashville started to play scared and panicky late with their lead, and suddenly there was wide open ice for Canucks to make long passes at will.

Hope Nashville smartens up. Their game plan seems to be working, until they stop doing it. And Nashville also has to overcome having a very shallow forward group. Not much playmaking ability in that lot. If Nyquist is your best forward playmaker, you are gonna have trouble in playoffs. Another guy that usually wilts when the going gets tough.

Respond a certain way, how about any way? icon_lol I come to this site knowing full well that it's extremely likely I will take flack for whatever I say not matter what I say.

I used to live and die by wins and losses. If they lost, look out. Don't talk to me. I would be pissed for days. Everything people in here say, I used to say it. My wife didn't have to watch a second of the game to know the result based on my face and mood. I was that bad. Like I said, I am in my mid 40's so I saw a lot of bad Oilers teams and I allowed that team to cause me stress. I decided it was stupid.

I LOVE the Oilers. I watch every game, I go to probably 5 or 6 games a year and if I lived in Edmonton or way closer, I would go to more. But at the end of the day, if the Oilers win or lose, it doesn't impact my life. So it didn't make sense to me to stress as much as I did when they lost. Dwelling on the past doesn't do any good in my books. I swear a couple times right after they lose but by the time I make it up the stairs to my bedroom after the game, I have chosen to move on. There is another game. It's sports, not life or death. Watching sports is supposed to be enjoyable, not stressful or causing me anger. That's my philosophy.

But in here, because I don't think I am smarter than every professional hockey person, because I don't think everyone sucks that works for the Oilers, because I see the team differently than others in here, I am the outsider, I will take flack no matter what. That doesn't bother me even though many in here who have never seen me, never met me or spoken to me in person, tell me how I apparently feel. I don't feel like I am a victim. I have my own opinion, I come here to express it. If you don't like it, don't read it or respond to it. I take that same approach with some in here as I have decided it's a waste of my time to respond to certain people for the most part. So I don't for the most part. As much as many of you think I get mad or care, I really don't care what many in here say. There is no anger in what I type, I am just direct.

I am sure people will respond to this take and tell me I am lying and I tell me my apparent true feelings eventhough they couldn't pick me out of a line up. Whatever. Is what is is. Death, taxes and people in here telling RDO how to think. Facts of life I guess. icon_lol

Canucks play Friday. Which in theory means the earliest round 2 would start is Sunday.

This is a real important game for this series, but moreso for the next. A win, and they get at least 3 nights rest in their own bed before another grueling round.

FINISH THEM

I hope Vancouver and Nashville go 7. That series has been tighter than series lead has indicated. Vancouver keeps finding ways to overcome the Predators.

if deserving has anything to do with it.. Nashville should get a 7th game..

McDAVID! Oh YEAH Baby!!
Tic-Tac-Tao!
Keep on Rockin' in the Free World
P. Chiarelli math.. T. Hall = A. Larsson, Yak= bag o'pucks (OK he got one right...) K. Russell = $4.1 M+NMC, G. Reinhart= M. Barzal + A. Beauvillier, J. Eberle = R. Spooner,
