While the Wings are a decent team, I expect a big bounce back game from the Oilers, especially McD. I thought McD's line was brutal against the Kings. I can't remember when I have seen McD look that ineffective and how badly he struggled with the puck. Things he normally does with his eyes closed were a struggle.

I hope they go back to the D pairings they had during the streak. New pairings are looking lost out there.

From everything I have read, sounds like they are back to the way they were.

I don't fault the coach from trying something but nice to see he not being stubborn and quickly switching back when it wasn't working.

I wonder if Kostin regrets leaving the Oilers? I heard they had offered him a deal, obviously less than the Wings and so far, it hasn't worked anywhere near as well as it did in Edmonton. Now with the Oilers, he had a high shooting percentage which I am sure wouldn't have continued if he stayed but he seemed to have found a role with the Oiler that worked for him but hasn't yet with the Wings.

I think he's fine with his decision to leave the Oilers. Kid got paid twice his value.

I guess but he's barely playing. Do you think Campbell is happy not playing in the NHL while making 5 mill? I would probably guess probably not. So unless you are the type of guy who doesn't care at all about playing, you just want money, I bet he's not loving it.

Not loving how you performed in a season is very different than regretting a decision. Kostin probably made a good bet going to Detroit. In Edmonton he's block by... a lot of forwards and might never is thought of as more than a replaceable fourthliner. In Detroit he could have established himself as a top 9 / pk specialist. It hasn't worked out, but he bet on himself. It's hard to regret that. There's also a strong possibility he would have been the Erne / Gagner player here. Nothing guaranteed his continued success here.

More money and more opportunity is hard to regret. Same for Campbell.

Now if the Oilers win a cup I'd probably have a small lump in my stomach for a while, but neither player is in a place in their career where they should be chasing cups.

He might not feel good about it now, but in 10 years when his career is over and he is still a millionaire he won't regret it. He'll wish he had done better and that things went differently, but no one would regret taking that money.

...this should be a mini statement game to the team themselves. Wings are not the Sharks. They are much better. But the OIL would like to think they should be considered in a tier above the Wings. ...what better time to prove it than tonight?

...this time, it's for real (isn't it?).

Especially a player like Klim where this is likely the only solid payday he's going to get.

Wasn’t feeling good last night and went to bed.

Highly regret it. McDavid holy crap. So many highlights.

I think the 5 schmil a year makes its a lot more palatable for Campbell. It really drives home the point of securing that one big contract in your career to set you up for life. Most of these guys in the NHL do not have the financial security and as much as it sucks to sit or play in the minors they can take comfort in knowing that they do not need to worry about finances.

At one point, ever player wants the money and who can blame them. Careers can be short and no one wants to move back home to be a city cop and have some great stories about some partial seasons in the NHL. Klim likely struggles in Edmonton this year too.

If you don' believe please talk to Steve Kelly (Calgary Police) or Bryan Glynn (Prince Albert Police) who both are police officers. Grab your bag when you can.
